EVIL DEAD II:  DEAD BY DAWN

Rated: R
In this review I’m going to try to emphasize many different things to an extent.  To do this nowadays we bold it, italicize it, capitalize it, and/or underline it.  In Bible times, they didn’t have that technology so they simply repeated things three times.  So, with that in mind, let me start by saying that “Evil Dead II: Dead by Dawn” is an incredibly STUPID, STUPID, STUPID film.
Sam Raimi has some vast explaining to do.  There is nothing to justify the sheer stupidity of this film.  If you didn’t see “The Evil Dead”, which Sam Raimi made years earlier with a lot of creativity, stop right there and let it sink in because whatever ounce of enjoyment you took delight in taking out of that will be mutilated by its sequel.
What we have here is a sorry excuse to make a film.  I mean I’m guessing Raimi and his “associates” were bored out of their minds and in desperate need of money, because they can’t seriously think that this film is good, right?  Well, they may back it up with saying that it’s horrific, but hilarious.
Now, before we continue, let us all think about that.  Yes, this film is horrific.  And yes, it’s hilarious.  But it’s only funny because of how harrowingly dumb it is.  The effects, the story, the acting, the everything is so bad, I’m laughing just thinking about it.
Okay, fine.  I’ll take back "bad story".  I say that because this isn’t really a sequel, but a retelling of its predecessor.  I enjoyed “The Evil Dead” in a fun sadistic kind of way, but this film is just undeniably (and unjustifiably) disgusting with only one or two precious intelligent funny parts.  And because of those two parts (for those of you who actually choose to view this) I will cease to say anymore for fear of ruining the entirety of the film for you.
I have a problem with this film because of so many reasons that I would lose my breath telling you them all.  I cannot think of one good reason Sam Raimi would make this film.  And what toils my mind even more thoroughly is why would he put his name on the credits.  I mean, he wants people to know he’s responsible? ½ star.
