Movie Reviews
Rated: R- Strong Violence/Gore, Language, and Brief Nudity.
     Infected with what?!  ...Rage.

It began as a simple secret.  No one knew about it.  But when a group of animal rights activists try to set free a group of infected, caged-in monkeys, all-hell breaks loose.  Infected with what, you might ask?  It can only be described as rage, undying rage for everything, caused by an unknown source.  So when the activists become infected and the infection spreads, the entire city of London, England is forced to evacuate.
Exactly 28 days after the initial infection, reaction, rage, and evacuation, Jim wakes up from a coma to find himself in a locked hospital...but no one else is there.  No patients, no doctors.  Just an empty, ran-sacked hospital.  This is "28 Days Later", the latest film by director Danny Boyle.
I wont tell you much more about the plot because of its intenseness.  I dont know how many truly scary movies youve seen the last couple months, but I havent seen many at all.  So when it comes down to it, I was really relying on "28 Days Later" to at least make me jump of flinch.  It did.
Putting yourself in the shoes of Jim, the main character, the film becomes all the more frightening.  Picture yourself waking up out of a long-term coma to find that your town has been evacuated, your family has been killed, and your whole world, everything you hold dear is gone.  Its an interesting concept that is not easily accepted.  "28 Days Later" is so impressive because of its realism and creepiness.  Boyle wisely allows very long talking scenes, almost to the point of boredom, when something unexpected happens, and it frightens you.
The original George Romero zombie films are considered classics.  This film may not be considered a classic; it may not even be considered a zombie movie.  I look at it as being a zombie film-redefined.  The infected become zombie-like creatures, but are never referred to directly as zombies.
And because of its sheer creepiness and realism in a very unrealistic story, "28 Days Later" is the best horror film Ive seen in recent months and rates *** .
