Chapter History:  
    Our chapter, Epsilon Phi, was founded in 1990 at the University of North Carolina at Wilmington.  We are still a fairly new chapter, but we are a strong group of women and continue to widen our ever-lengthening chain of sisterhood.  We are known by other chapters and Nationals by our own little nickname: "Sigmas by the Sea."  Pretty cute huh? 
 

 
National History: 

    Tri Sigma sorority was founded on April 20, 1898 at Farmville Female College, (presently Longwood College).  The founding sisters were: 

            • Isabella Merrick
            • Martha Trent Featherston
            • Lelia A. Scott
            • Sallie J. Michie
            • Louise M. Davis
            • Elizabeth Watkins
            • Margaret Lee Batten
            • Lucy Wright
     We call them the Great 8! These women were the beginning of what is now a sisterhood of 50,000 women nationwide.  Tri Sigma's National Headquarters is located in Woodstock, Virginia.  It is named the Mabel Lee Walton House, after our third national president. 
 
 There are many symbols that we use  as a National Sorority to remind us of the pledge we made to Sigma:
 
 
Symbol: Sailboat  Symbolizing our continuous forward motion.
Flower: Violet The original Symbols of   
the eight founding sisters.
Jewel: Pearl
Colors: Royal Purple and White  Changed from Moss   
Green and Purple in 1902.
Magazine: The Triangle  Keeping collegiate members and Alumnae across the nation   
informed of other chapter's activities and awards.
