animal cruelty; how can anyone harm an animal? i just don't understand it. and how can these people have puppy mills and pet shops. please, NEVER EVER buy an animal from a pet shop. they come from puppy mills and brokers. puppy mills are where sick people breed hundreds of dogs to sell them to pet shops. they are filthy, unhealthy places where there is extreme overcrowding of dogs (sometimes 10 dogs to one cage). they rarely, if ever receive food or water, leaving their ribs to protrude through their skin. they are NEVER given medical attention. most of the time, if an animal dies, they'll literally dump it on their front lawn to rot and disintegrate. if you've ever seen an animal rescue show, you'll sometimes see the rescuers going into houses with feces and rodents everywhere from the dead bodies. when you buy puppies from a pet shop, you are keeping the shop in business, therefore, keeping the puppy mills in business. also, most of the puppies in pet shops are obviously not 100% healthy. adopt an animal from the pound, SPCA, vet or TRUSTW0RTHY breeder. i have a shih tzu that was from a puppy mill. her mother had a knee disorder, but they bred her anyway. they sold her puppies (one being my dog) to a pet shop called adorable pups. she was never given exercise, so along with her handicapped (called lateral luxating patellas), the tendons in her legs shrunk. once the pet store owners realized she was handicapped, they gave her to my vet and said, "if you can't find a home for her, put her to sleep!" my vet knows our family will love any kind of dog, so she called us up and asked us to come meet her. the vet wanted us to help give her therapy for her legs (to help stretch the tendons). as soon as we saw her, we fell in love with her. she walked like a seal, due to her condition, she had kennel cough and seborrhea (a skin problem). we began giving her therapy and after 2 weeks, we adopted her. our vet said she may not live to be 6 months old...well, she is now 7 years old and runs around with our pekingese. and her name?...JELLYBEAN. ;D since this has happened, the pet store jellybean came from has closed down. =) please, be kind to animals. they don't care who we are, what we look like or if we're famous or not...they just love us for who we are. i think we should treat them the same way. |
