193B EDINBURGH GUIDES
The draft programme for this term was decided by the Patrol Leaders Council on Monday 2nd December, from ideas from all the girls in the patrols.

Tuesday 7th January

Sandra was late, thanks to Scotrail and Susan kindly stepped into the breach - thanks Susan!  Also thanks to Alison W's mum for coming to help tonight.  We started off with a game of newspaper hockey (making our own sticks first), then we wrote Thinking Day postcards for sending to other units around the world.  We finished off with a sweetie game called "Tip".  To see how to play Tip check out our
games pages, to see photos of tonight go here.

Tuesday 14th January
Craft evening - pompoms, salt dough.  After tuck shop we all made salt dough (see our
activities page for the recipe) and made models from it.  Quite a few of us made woolly sheep!  Then those of us who finished in time started on pompom creatures, using card & wool to make the pompoms.

Tuesday 21st January
After we played another sweetie game, this one with chopsticks (see
photos page) we finished (or made) pompoms and painted salt dough models.
We had also planned to sort out the patrols and plan patrol ("Go For It") sessions but ran out of time so we'll do that next week.

Tuesday 28th January
First "Go For It" activity (after sorting out patrols)
This term we only have 13 guides so we've decided to just have two patrols (see
patrols page for who's in which one).  Each patrol decided on a WAGGGS (World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts) region to choose their patrol activities from this term, and they each did one activity.  The daisies did two songs from Australia and New Zealand, and the dolphins did a game (explained on the games page) from Brazil.

Tuesday 4th February
Second "Go For It" activity - see
patrol pages.
International activities

Tuesday 11th Feburary
Outing - bowling!
The guides voted on this the first week back - given the options of bowling, ice skating, swimming, snorkelling, skiing or snowboarding the most popular options were bowling, ice skating or snorkelling.  Watch this space...!  We were going to go ice skating but Murrayfield doesn't have a public session on Tuesday evenings, so we're going bowling instead.  There is also an outing to go snorkelling later in the term - see the events page.

Tuesday 18th February
MID TERM BREAK

Tuesday 25th February
International night - we had a look at the postcards from the Thinking Day postcard exchange, played some games from Belgium, worked out which flag went with which country and ate some Mexican and Indian food!  (We had nachos with Tex-Mex dips and popadoms with mango chutney).
Deadline for forms for activity day / sleepover

Tuesday 4th March
Third "Go For It" activity - see
patrol pages.

Tuesday 11th March
Fourth "Go For It" activity - see
