ver one decade from its birth, the Phoenix burned and raised its ashes
across the dessert of Saudi Arabia which signified the founding of the
Alpha Sigma Phi Riyadh Alumni Council (ASPRAC). A certain group
of Alpha Sig's who came from the different chapter in the Philippines flocked in the
City of Riyadh and strived to form a strong Alumni Council.

There were two groups of generations which inched their way to form the Alumni
Council. One generation came in early 80's which was a bunch of Alpha Sig's
Engineers from Marawi City who attempt to organize the Alumni Council. There
was hindrance though, due to the hectic of time since most of them were in the
sensitive field. The second generation organized it successfully on October 15, 1993,
through the efforts extended by the Magnificent (7) headed by Brother Abdul Kadil
"Ding" Akbara, Araneta University-Alpha Nu .80 and Brother Abdul Rashid "Canard"
Sabirin, WMSU Gamma Theta '86, and the rest from Zamboanga and Jolo Chapters.

Meanwhile, Brother Nasser "Nash" Sanoh, MLQU-Alpha Kappa '77 was the first
elected President of the Alumni Council. Brother Sunerio "Sunner" Gamelo,
Southwestern University-Delta '69 and Brother Abdul Kadil "Ding" Akbara, were both
Advisers. Since then, the Alumni Council maintained its monthly meetings,
functions and other social activities. One of its noble objectives is to help and assist
the distress brothers and sisters as well as getting involved in the Filipino Community.

The first Induction Ceremony of Officers was held at the lobby residence of the late
Philippine Ambassador to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Ambassador Romulo M.
Espaldon. He was the first Guest Speaker of the Council during his time. The
first and foremost Organization ever held its Induction at his residence. The Alumni
Council is a member of the Accredited Filipino Organization Abroad and duly
registered in the Cultural Community Office at the Philippine Embassy on March 26,
2000.

The Council observed the International and National Anniversary and other
traditions of the fraternity every now and then held in the different prestigious venues
in the Riyadh City. Over (100) one hundred members joined the fold since 1993.
Being an OFW we must expect to return to our country at any time. We can not avoid
the fact that there were members who come and go, those new members felt the
warm welcome  from the Council and those who left brought the legacy with honor
and pride of the Council and the fraternity as well. Finally, the Alumni Council
takes its pride for being a part of the Alpha Sigma Phi heritage in Riyadh, Kingdom of
Saudi Arabia.
