DRES
BIO
Andres Throckmorton Stickney, introduced his first complete designer collection, DRES, for Mercedes-Benz Spring 2004 Fashion Week. He was born in Guatemala and was raised in Latin America, Asia, and Wheaton, Illinois. When asked where he is from he responds, "I am a global citizen, a resident of NYC."

With degrees in both business and fine arts from Skidmore College, Andres started his career in graphic design. After taking additional classes at FIT, he created a small collection for Spring 2000 that debuted in a runway show of underground designers in the artist community of Dumbo, Brooklyn. Andres then landed his first break: a design job with Ralph Lauren's Purple Label. Soon after, he took the prestigious design position with TSE, working with the avant-garde, highly acclaimed designer Hussein Chalayan and Richard Chai, former head designer for Marc Jacobs. In addition, Stickney collaborated with stylist Lori Goldstein to develop a novelty accessory collection for TSE.

Andres left TSE, in October 2002, to pursue the creation of his own designer label: DRES, starting with an accessory line of innovative rubber belts, bracelets and colorful animal handbags and coats made from an assortment of cute plush animals.

In addition to a complete collection, Andres has developed the DRES label to include shoes, eyewear, handbags, belts and jewelry. The basis of DRES is Andres concept of individual freedom. Be who you want to be. Live life as you want to live, unrestricted by cultural barriers.

Each season Andres Throckmorton Stickney chooses an artist, a vehicle, to promote a new message for the DRES collection. For the Spring 2004 Andres united with San Francisco artist Oliver Halsman Rosenberg. Together, they developed the colors, prints, and embroideries for the collection from the artist's portfolio.

For Fall 2004, Bodyfriction, Andres worked with four of NYC most beautiful performance artists. Tyra Allure, Micha, Lavinia, and Flawless Sabrina New York's best evening hostesses. Their stories, words, and perfomances are the inspiration for the Bodyfriction collection. They are the "Best of Show."
