Threads of mist drift over rising swell
moistening sail and mast in dawn light,
heaving waves disgorge foam flecked floatsom.
Born of rugged coast and ocean salt,
made of golden teak and honeyed oak,
glistening brass stroked by gentle hands.
Child of the wild coast, "Tara Ipo"
with breath warmed by southern breezes,
given birth from man's aroused passion,
cruising the sun and chasing the moon.
The symphony of sea in motion
from valley troughs in emerald depths
reaching crisp, curling crests of azure,
Wavedancer rides the wind in sheer joy,
racing towards skyline of future.
Bow fracturing immortal sea waves
beckoning the dance of sleek dolphins.
Grandfather murmurs through the rigging,
freshening sails towards journeys end
while jousting with crystaline faucets.
Toes and fingers meld with rope, throat dry,
sweat soaked fear ripples with spinnaker
as gulls, on grey wing sing the requiem
of surf tossed ship, and storm pitched cloud.
Straining keel prevails ‘neath Captain's craft,
as spirit force flows through man to child
nourishing schooner, master and sea.
Green topped waters bathed in sinking sun,
ocean shadows shroud at journey's end,
"Tara Ipo" cradled home at rest.

Cloudwalker April 2000

"Tara Ipo" was written for, and inspired by, a close friend and mate, whom I call sister.  This ship truly exists,  it was built by her Grandfather and is berthed in Australia waiting patiently to feel her Captain's hand once more upon the wheel. Trace may you feel the ocean spray and the wind upon your spirit soon.  I also have to thank KittyKat and OneQuietMan for the creation of the graphic. It is perfect my friends!
