LASER HAIR REMOVAL has become the gold standard for the management of unwanted hair. Laser systems work by the principle of "selective photothermolysis", in which a carefully timed pulse of light energy passes thru the skin, and is absorbed and converted into heat energy at the hair follicle.
MULTIPLE LASER TREATMENTS ARE NECESSARY FOR THE BEST RESULTS! This is because laser energy has its best results on growing, or anagen, hair follicles. At any one time, depending on the treatment area, only about 20-40% of the hairs are actively growing. Repeated treatments, at an interval of 4-10 weeks, provides the best results. That is why we recommend packages of 5 treatments. PERMANENT HAIR REDUCTION is the best terminology for laser hair removal, as up to 95% of the hair is permanently gone. Any regrowth is usually much finer and slower growing, and may still respond to a subsequent laser treatment.
THE BEST CANDIDATES for laser hair removal are fair skinned individuals with dark hair; however, with our equipment, even dark skinned individuals get good results. The laser does not work well on blonde or gray hair. This makes it important to do laser hair removal before your hair turns gray. Dyed hair only dyes the outer hair, not the root, which is where the light energy needs to be absorbed.
For most patients, Laser Hair Removal is momentarily uncomfortable, but tolerable. Many liken it to the snap of a rubber band. However, this varies greatly from patient to patient. Topical skin anesthetics only offer minimal relief. AS WE OFFER PHYSICIAN SUPERVISED LASER TREATMENTS, WE CAN OFFER VIRTUALLY PAINLESS LASER TREATMENTS WITH THE USE OF PRESCRIPTION ANALGESIC AGENTS TAKEN 1 HOUR BEFORE THE TREATMENT. THIS DOES, HOWEVER, REQUIRE THAT A DRIVER BE AVAILABLE TO TAKE THE PATIENT HOME. When you schedule, let the receptionist know if you will require the analgesic medication pre-treatment. BEFORE WE GIVE YOU THE PRESCRIPTION PAIN RELIEVERS, YOU MUST PAY FOR YOUR FIRST SESSION AHEAD OF TIME, AND YOU WILL ONLY RECIEVE 2 PILLS FROM THE PHARMACY.
