1. *** MESSAGE FROM THE F.A.C.L. EXECUTIVE TEAM***

Science fiction and fantasy is a very broad topic and most of us CLs and homesteaders have our own personal favourites within it, be it books and authors, wicca, vampyres, fanfic, wizards, StarTrek, StarWars, things that go bump in the night, elves, trolls or ...well, the list goes on. As the suburbs are phased out of geocities and our autonomous Community Leader program moves out into the entire internet, we are starting to organize into sub-groups that more accurately pinpoint our specific interests within the huge scifi / fantasy genre. This will make it easier for homepage owners and C.L.s to meet and share with others that have the same interests .

Many of the suburb managers of Area51 have identified their own 'themes' and are working away furiously to develop the themes into their community centres. We are having a terrific amount of fun doing this, and we hope you will be pleased with the results! Of course, we will also continue to be THE place in the WWW to find the best help resources and Area51 activities!

We have started this month to feature a few of these theme centres. Over the next few months, we will continue to updates on these theme centres as a regular feature of this newsletter.

Larry, Ariel and Ja'krinda.

3. *** C.L. INFORMATION SITE***

This site was formerly for just the CL's enjoyment, but we have decided not to be shy and invite everyone to come and visit us here! The site features information pages on most of the Area51 Community Leaders, a 'Real Life' photo and, as a special feature, has a monthly in-depth interview with a selected Community Leader! Scary stuff indeed. You have gotta check this out!

i) Omega Community Center is the theme headquarters for sites with a "Holocaust" flair. These would include sites that pertain to Terminator, Omega Man and The Day After to name a few. We are providing a webring, awards and any help to devastate the web. Here is the URL: http://www.oocities.org/Area51/Omega/1250/

ii) Shire is the theme centre for all science fiction / fantasy worlds created by the written word. Here you will find links to your favourite authors' sites, a list of recommended reading from the gentle readers of the Shire, great reader links, a new "Readers of the Shire" webring and of course the coveted Shire Awards. Please drop by and visit us at http://www.oocities.org/shire_cl

iii) Aurora is the place for all those fabulous comics and animé sites! The site is open for business and has several awards available! If this is your interest too, you are invited to see what we are doing at http://www.oocities.org/aurora_cc

iii) Dreamworld is now offering two awards -- the Dreamworld Illusion Award and the Elite Dreamworld Illusion Award. The Dreamworld Illusion Award is available to new sites (created within the past three months) with an Area51 theme that show that hard work and
dedication have been put into them. Our Elite Dreamworld Illusion Award goes out to people who have maintained a webpage for over three months that also show the same hard-work and effort as the winners of the Illusion Award. It is not always the case that the most attractive sites win, rather winning sites demonstrate an extra effort that separate them from the rest.
For more information about the Dreamworld Illusion Awards and to
nominate a site, visit http://www.oocities.org/a51dreamworld/award.html
