Music

"If music be the food of love, play on." Ahh, music. This, I can dig. I'm a big music fan; hardly surprising, as I grew up in a family of musically inclined people. I like all music, and by that I don't mean that I listen to alternative rock, rap, and country. I listen to everything, from opera, jazz, and classical to classic rock and hippie music to bluegrass. I listen to alternative rock and acid jazz and I even like techno.. I don't really like rap, country, or pop music all that much.

Some music I like:
The Beatles
REM
Bob Dylan
Led Zeppelin
Eric Clapton
CCR
Pink Floyd
James Taylor
Jason Mraz!! (Check this dude out; I've seen him in concert four times, he's great!)
Dave Matthews Band
Stevie Ray Vaughn
Elton John
Teri Thornton & other female jazz vocalists
Emerson, Lake, and Palmer
Cake
Third Eye Blind
Gillian Welch
Pine Valley Cosmonauts
Live
David Usher (NOT Usher as in, "U Got it Bad")
Jimi Hendrix
Rufus Wainright
Sondre Lerche
Sean Watkins
Michael Buble
Dust Brothers
Covenant
Concrete Blonde
Nine Inch Nails
various dance/techno and goth/industrial
Evanescence
The Cure
The Sex Pistols
The Ramones
The Dead Kennedys
various 70's and 80's punk
various hits of the 80's
Whatever you're selling, I'll probably like it.. try me. I have lots of fucking music.

Good Reading!

My book list sucks, I can never keep track of what I've been reading.

A Confederacy of Dunces by John Kennedy Toole
The World According to Garp and The Fourth Hand by John Irving
On the Road and Dharma Bums by Jack Kerouac
Anything by Anais Nin, she writes the best erotica
Their Eyes Were Watching God by Zora Neale Hurston
The Color Purple by Alice Walker
Me Talk Pretty One Day, et al., by David Sedaris (great light reading!)
High Fidelity and About A Boy by Nick Hornby, who's turning out to be quite an enjoyable writer
Harry Potter!
The Catcher in the Rye by J D Salinger, and anything else by Salinger
One Day in the Life of Ivan Denisovich by Alexander Solzhenitsyn
Lolita by Nabokov (not for the easily offended)
The Robot Series by Isaac Asimov
Bridget Jones's Diary by Helen Fielding
Shakespeare's comedies
Assorted things by Stephen King:
It
The Stand -- do yourself a favor and get the unabridged version
Rose Madder and Dolores Claiborne for the women -- I don't think men would enjoy these. (Don't bother with Gerald's Game, it wasn't that good.)
Hearts in Atlantis and Different Seasons -- very good collections of novellas
The Dark Tower Series has my recommendation!
The short stories are good, particularly in Nightmares and Dreamscapes
If you saw the movie Carrie, read the book too
The Green Mile series was excellent -- read it as a series, buy them one at a time

1984 was excellent
Most anything by Ray Bradbury is good
Prodigal Summer, Bean Trees, Pigs in Heaven all by Barbara Kingsolver
Cranberry Queen by (I think) Kathleen DeMarco
Of Mice and Men and Winter of our Discontent by Steinbeck
The Tale of Genji
poets! I am fond of the beat poets (Jim Carroll in particular) and the Romantic/Victorian era poets. Pablo Neruda comes highly recommended from me. I also recommend T.S. Eliot.
The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier and Clay by Michael Chabon
Flowers for Algernon by Daniel Keyes
Anything by Carl Hiaasen
The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time by Mark Haddon
nearly anything by Nick Hornby
Love in the Time of Cholera by Gabriel Garcia-Marquez
Fight Club, Choke, Survivor, and Invisible Monsters by Chuck Palahniuk
Love in the Asylum by Lisa Carey
Confessions of a Dangerous Mind and its sequel (although not as good) Bad Grass Never Dies by Chuck Barris
Good Omens by Gaiman/Pratchett
One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest by Ken Kesey
The Hitchhiker series by Douglas Adams
American Gods by Neil Gaiman
