How To Play The Secret Of Treeton Towers

The game is a homage to the old-style text adventures that sophisticated people used to play before Playstations came along and ruined EVERYTHING. Presented below is a basic guide for those of you who are too young or too ignorant to remember such glory days. Even if you're a seasoned Adventurer, you should still read the Guide, it may give you a couple of clues as to how this particular game works.

You play a heroic Adventurer who must successfully navigate his/her way through Treeton Towers and find the Treasure. You are presented with location descriptions (with pretty graphics and sound too) and must type in your commands to move around, examine objects, interact with Characters and solve the puzzles.

Moving Around Treeton Towers

Each Location description will tell you the available directions in which your Character can move. These will be either North, South, East, West, Up or Down. Sometimes, new exits will only become available on solving a particular puzzle or giving a particular object to a particular Character. More on this later.
If you wish your character to go North, then you simply type in 'NORTH' or even just 'N' for short. If you wish your Character to move up, then you simply type in 'UP' or just 'U' for short. I could go on like this for some time but I think even the lesser-brains amongst you should be starting to get the general idea now. Don't forget though, you can only move in the Directions that are available, which will always be clearly presented to you in the Location Description that you are currently in.

Having A Good Nosy Around Treeton Towers

There is much to explore and examine in Treeton Towers. Use the word 'EXAMINE' to explore a particular bit of scenery, object or Character in more depth. So, for example, if you came across a Banana in your magical quest, you could type in 'EXAMINE BANANA' to study it in more detail and perhaps be presented with more clues as to what it might be for.
You can also pick up certain Objects you find which may aid you in your quest by using the word 'TAKE'. So if you actually wanted to pick up the aforementioned Banana and put it in your Rucksack for later use, then you would type in 'TAKE BANANA'. Not everything can be picked up of course, you will be clearly told if you are unable to pick up a certain Object.
You are allowed to carry no more than three items in your Rucksack so be careful about which items you choose to carry. You can drop items at any time by using the word 'DROP'. So typing in 'DROP BANANA' would drop the Banana in the current Location that you are in and leave your hands free to maybe carry something else.
You can fetch up an inventory of the items you are currently holding in your Rucksack at any time in the game by typing in just the word 'INVENTORY' or even just 'i' for short.

Interacting With Characters In Treeton Towers

You will encounter many weird and wonderful Characters within the Towers, whom you will be able to interact with, converse with, give Objects to and even receive Objects from.
Characters can be Examined in the same way as Objects or scenery to learn a bit more about them but you can also 'TALK TO' to each Character to unravel even more clues. So, for example, if you came across a Lesbian within the game then you could 'TALK TO LESBIAN' to see what she has to say for herself.
You may also give Objects to Characters (but only if you are carrying the particular Object yourself in your rucksack.)
So, if you were carrying the banana in your rucksack and you decide that you want to offer it to the Lesbian then the appropriate command would be 'GIVE BANANA TO LESBIAN'.
She may not actually take it from you if she doesn't really want it, but then again she may be hugely grateful and give you advice or another Object in return, or she may even show you a previously unseen exit.

And That's About It

There are plenty of other things you can do in Treeton Towers. The game understands many other words and commands, it's up to you to discover what they are! You will be clearly told if your command is not understood or impossible to do. You can interact with and manipulate Objects, Scenery and Characters in lots of ways, so experiment a little!
You can save your progress within a game by simply typing in 'SAVE'. You can then return to your saved game in the future by using the word 'LOAD'.
If you're really on the ball and know in advance what you want to do, then you can type in multiple commands all at once! Simply separate each command by using a comma. So if you typed in "SOUTH, EAST, TAKE BANANA, GIVE BANANA TO LESBIAN" then your Character would first move South, then move East, then....oh, I'm not typing anymore, I'm sure you understand it.

I think that just about covers it. Even a Lamb would be able to play the game now. Go and prove me wrong.
