NOTE:  The family name of Hazelton has many variations in spelling,
including Hazeltine, Haseltine, Haselton, etc.  This work uses Hazelton
throughout, since the compiler found almost no consistency in spellings
used in various sources.

married SUSANNAH HEATH of Haverhill, MA.

Joshua was by occupation a shoemaker.  He moved to Phillipstown (now
Sanford), ME; then to Fryeburg, ME, and finally to Chatham.  He is
listed
in the 1790 and 1800 censuses of Chatham, and probably died before 1810.

Children of Joshua & Susannah:

(1)  RUTH HAZELTON, born 22 September 1754, in Haverhill, MA; m.
BENJAMIN
KILGORE and moved with their family from Fryeburg, ME, to Waterford, ME,

about 1800; seven children, as follows:

(1.1)  BENJAMIN KILGORE, died at sea.

(1.2)  DOMINICUS KILGORE; m. HANNAH GROVER.

(1.3)  GABRIEL KILGORE; m. SUSANNA HAMLIN, dau. of Africa & Susanna
(Stone) Hamlin of Waterford and had nine children.

(1.4)  REUBEN KILGORE; m. MARY BERGEN and had ten children.

(1.5)  MARY KILGORE; m. JOSEPH EASTMAN.

(1.6)  NAOMI KILGORE; m. DANIEL McKENNEY.

(1.7)  LIBERTY KILGORE; m. JANE EDWARDS.

(2)  JONATHAN HAZELTON, born about 1755; died about 1845, in Rhode
Island; m. MIRIAM BEAN, dau. of John Bean of Alfred, ME, and sister to
Sally Bean, who m. John Hazelton, brother to Jonathan.  Miriam was b.
about 1764, and died 8 Feb. 1852, in Stow, ME (buried at Lord Cem., West

Lovell, ME).  In the 1850 census Miriam was living with her daughter
Susan's family in Stow.  Eight children, as follows:

(2.1)  SUSAN HAZELTON, b. 28 June 1786, in Waterboro, ME; d. 26 July
1866; m., 20 Dec. 1806, SIMON LORD and lived finally in Stow, ME.  (See

(2.2)  LYDIA HAZELTON, b. 1788; d. 17 December 1875; m. SAMUEL LORD,
brother to Simon, who m. Lydia's sister, Susan.  Samuel was b. 1787, and

d. 14 March 1858.  Nine children.

(4)  SAMUEL HAZELTON; married REBECCA LOWE.  According to the Hazelton
Genealogy by William B. Lapham, 1892:  "He [Samuel] settled at Chatham,
N. H., and died quite early leaving a family quite destitute."  Samuel
is
listed in the 1790 census of Chatham.  Five children, as follows:

BOOTHBY.  Listed in the 1850 census of Conway, NH, as a physician, with
apparently three children.  Later moved to Iowa.

(4.4)  PATTY HAZELTON; m. LEMUEL POTTER; resided in Conway, NH.

(4.5)  LYDIA HAZELTON; b. 1788; d. 1849 (Center Lovell, ME, Cem.); m.
SAMSON HEALD (1791-1843), son of Josiah & Tryphena (Cory) Heald of
Lovell, ME; resided at Center Lovell; several children.


(5) SUSANNA HAZELTON, m., 24 Dec. 1787, in Fryeburg, ME, AMOS HUTCHINS
(b. 6 Sept. 1764), son of Capt. Nathaniel & Mehitable (Ordway) Hutchins
of Fryeburg; settled in Chatham, where they were listed in the 1790 and
1800 censuses; then moved to Crawford County, Pennsylvania.  Probably
several children, two recorded in Fryeburg Vital Records, as follows:

(5.2)  ALVIRA HUTCHINS, b. 1 December 1797.


(6)  JOHN HAZELTON; m. SALLY BEAN, dau. of John Bean of Alfred, ME, and
sister to Miriam, who m. John's brother, Jonathan Hazelton.  They lived
in Chatham but finally settled in Alfred, ME.  Four children, as
follows:

Chatham Center Cemetery; m., 20 December 1820, JAMES HARRIMAN (b. 23
Oct.
1799; d. 6 Dec. 1868), son of Amos & Nancy Harriman of Chatham; lived in

Chatham and had eight children.

(7.5 ?)  HOSEA HAZELTON; b. 12 August 1800, in Chatham; d. 8 October
1883, in Biddeford, ME; m., 1832, SOPHILA A. POOR.  He was a shipwright
and also operated a fruit shop in 1860.  Three children.
