Kicking off…
Traditionally, we kick off when we leave the shore in a canoe. Our weight in the canoe, our foot pushes us away from the land onto the water… and into our journey.

The sensation is silence… smoothness… freedom…

On December 1, 2001 the Chapleau Cree kicked off on a journey into the 21st century. It continues the adventure begun by our people some one hundred or more years ago.

The ‘CCFN 21st Migration’ is the manifestation of that image symbolizing our path towards the future.

Like our ancestors who migrated from the shores of James Bay and Moosonee, we now migrate again, along a path that transforms our people, our communities, and our land.

Directed by our visions, we bring our children and ourselves to our legacy.

Acting Editor, Lark Ritchie.
