Where are you from?
Born and bred East Midlands girl, I grew up in Breaston, Derbyshire.

Age? (very optional!!!)
Only a few months off the big one….I’m 29!

Earliest memory?
When I was about 3 or 4 I had a short Beatles style haircut (my mum claims it was trendy then?!). Anyway I always craved long hair so I used to insist on wearing a tea towel on my head which I would pretend was a flowing mass of locks and flick from side to side like a proper princess!!! Oh dear!

Favourite place?
I love Italy, the food, the people and the coffee

Favourite music?
I love all sorts of different types of music it depends what mood I’m in. I love Paolo Nutini, Justin Timberlake, Nelly Furtado and James Morrison’s current albums.

Any special qualifications/achievements that you're proud of?
Won an RTS award in 2002 for a half hour doco I made for ITV Central about UB40. Never dreamed I would win.

First job?
When I was 15 - Washing hair and making coffee
in a hair salon every Saturday.

First job in the media at 17 - BBC Radio Derby - worked on the Saturday night show doing cd/movie reviews and answering calls!

Best job?
My current roles at ITV Central and Heart…love it.

Dream job?
Presenting Entertainment Today on GMTV.

How did you get started in doing what you do?
I worked unpaid at BBC Radio Derby for two years whilst studying media at college. I then continued gaining experience at BBC TV in London and Carlton TV in Nottingham and Birmingham. Got myself a degree in Broadcast Journalism and got offered a job as a Researcher at Carlton, now ITV Central.

How long ago?
I started in the industry when I was 17

Where would you have been seen or heard since you
started broadcasting?
ITV Central and Heart 106

Best on-air moment?
Interviewing Robbie Williams. It took six months to get him and he didn’t disappoint - even got a kiss out of it!

Worst on-air moment (embarrassing or otherwise)?
When I first started presenting the news I said S**T on air. I panicked when the autocue decided to start going backwards….it was during a package but my mic was open by mistake and everyone heard me loud and clear! You only make a mistake like that once. I never swear in the studio now, even when we are not on air. Better to be safe than sorry!!

Describe a typical working day (if there is such a thing!)
I don’t have a typical day. As an Entertainment Reporter I very often work at night at different events and then I’m up again first thing to get an interview edited for that day or I’m up joining the Heart 106 team on the breakfast show. I also stand in as the main anchor of Central Tonight so often interview a popstar in the morning and then read the news at six. My job is very varied, long hours, hard work but lots of fun.

Any ambitions left?
Plenty, watch this space!

Best advice that you've been given and why?
Don’t look back it’s not the direction you are heading in

Thanks to Lucy for answering our questions.
Listen every Friday breakfast to Heart 106 and watch Lucy's reports on Central News/Tonight across the East Midlands.
