BACK TO ABOUT ME
DRAG
This is the section that most people know all about. I have been performing for a little over 10 years, and I will be celebrating my 11 year anniversary of female impersonation in June of 2003. I got my first taste of drag while living in San Antonio. I was hired to be a back up dancer for a queen who was headed to Miss Gay Texas America. I got to experience my first Miss Gay Texas and knew that was what I wanted.
After moving to Houston, I found myself in need of some extra cash so I thought I would sell some of the costumes I had made for my old dance partners. I donned the dresses, stole the name Catia from a ballroom dancing friend, and entered a talent contest thinking I would use the publicity to sell the clothes. Well, the queens could not afford the costumes, but the bar owners loved my show, so I was soon booked at venues around Houston. It was a real whirlwind. Within 3 months I was entering my first pageant. The person who started me off in her show, Laura Lee Love christened me with her last name, and I was off. I entered Miss San Antonio, and to my shock was 1st alt. Unfortunately, the queen who won passed away about a month after winning, and I became Miss San Antonio. I went to Miss Texas and placed in the top ten my first year. What a rush.
After several successful years in Houston, I moved to Tulsa. I was able to win Miss OK the first time I entered, and was on my way to
Miss Gay America. My first year there, I won overall best talent and, and placed in the top ten. the next two years I went back I continued my climb. The second year I was 2nd Alt. and the third time I was crowned. I became Miss Gay America 2000 and was dubbed the millenium Miss America. I am still closely associated with the America system, and I am entertaining the idea of competing again in another system,
I currently travel the country entertaining, judging and emceeing, and love meeting all the new people. I also do a lot of sewing for myself and for others. This was a skill I picked up from my years of dancing. It keeps me occupied and I am never still very long. Below are some pics of me and my drag moms. These are pics of me starting out, so be kind...Max Factor wasn't. LOL
