To try an online, fill-in-the-blank citation generator, go to EasyBib.com
- You must have all the information ready to complete the souces cited page in one sitting. You can't do just part of it at a time. Once you begin, do not click the "Back" button on the browser.
- Have any web pages you plan to cite open so you can copy and paste the URLs and check other details. If you are working on a Mac, open a new MSWord document and type Works Cited at the center top of the page. Open http://www.easybib.com in a new window (File>New Window), choose your information source, and fill in the blanks.
- For a source found in EBSCO, choose "Online Database" as the form. Use the URL shown in the Citation view as "...persistent link to this article"
- For Macs, when you finish all the citations, select (highlight) them and choose Edit>Copy. Go to your MSWord document, put the cursor on the left margin, and choose Edit>Paste. Correct the formatting to make it hanging indention (first line of each citation is at the left margin, others in that citation are indented.)
- On PCs, click the "Print" button at the center right of the page (not the print button on the browser bar). Then click "Print" on the next page that comes up."
Another way to prepare the Sources Cited page is this easy "copy and paste" method.
- Open a new word processing document. Hit "Enter" twice, and center the words
Sources Cited. Hit "Enter" twice again.
- Use "hanging" indention: the first line of
each citation starts at the margin of the paper, other lines in the citation
are indented.
- Click here to find format examples for your sources, and copy the format of the correct example to your new word processing
document.
- Select (or "highlight") each part of the
format example and type in the correct information for your source. Be sure to
leave the punctuation in place.
- When citing an on-line magazine article from
EBSCO, use the URL given as "...persistent link to this article" in the
citation table.
- Look on the title page of your book for much
of the information you need.
- If no author is given, start the citation with
the magazine, web page, or book title.
- When all the citations are entered, arrange
them alphabetically by highlighting and dragging them to the correct location.
