MEANING:
This prayer is said to have been found under the SEPULCHRE OF JESUS
CHRIST. I found several years referenced (50, 176 , 803, 1505) and
several versions of the prayer, below are other versions and titles. It
is said to have been sent by the pope to the Emperor Charles V who was
going to War against his enemies. It was afterwards sent to St. Michel,
in France. He who reads this prayer, or hears it read or carries it about
with him shall not die a sudden death. He shall not be burned or drowned
or poisoned, nor fall into the hands of his enemies, nor be vanquished
in battle. A mother who reads this prayer or hears it read or carries it
about her, will be happily delivered, and when the baby is
born, if this prayer be put on it's right side it will be preserved
from a number of accidents. He who carries this prayer about him shall
be preserved from epilepsy. If this prayer be put on a person in an epileptic
fit, he or she will be relieved if not cured. Our Lord has promised to
bless him who recites or procures this prayer for himself or others, and
to punish him who scoffs at it. He who reads this prayer daily shall be
warned of the approach of his death, three days, by a divine sign.
O Lord Almighty, You have suffered at the Cross for our sins,
O Holy Cross of Jesus, be True Light.
O Holy Cross, have pity on me.
O Holy Cross, be my hope.
O Holy Cross, help me in my salvation.
O Holy Cross, let me not fear death.
O Holy Cross, safely guard me against all unholy thoughts and worldly
danger, so that I may worship the Holy Cross of Jesus forever.
O Jesus of Nazareth, have mercy on me.
In Honor of the Precious Blood of Jesus and His Fearful death and of
His Resurrection and of His Glorification, with which He leads us to everlasting
life.
As true as Jesus was born on Christmas Day and crucified on Good Friday.
As true as Joseph and Nicodemus took Jesus down from the Cross.
As true as Jesus, Ascended into Heaven.
May He preserve me from my enemies, visible and invisible forever and
ever. Amen.
Lord Almighty, into Your hands I give my soul. Mary, Joseph, Anne,
Joachim pray for me. Lord Jesus, by all You Have suffered for us at the
Holy Cross, principally when Your Soul left Your Body, grant me the strength
to bear the Cross as Yourself. Teach me to bear all evils with humility
so that the Virgin Mary may fill me with the Holy Spirit. Preserve my soul,
and lead it straight to everlasting life. Amen.
The Cross Prayer
Oh, Adorable Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, You have suffered death on
the Cross for our sins.
Oh Holy Cross of Jesus, be my true light! Oh Holy Cross fill my soul
with good thoughts.
Oh Holy Cross ward off from me all things that are evil.
Oh Holy Cross ward off from me all dangers and deaths and give me life
everlasting!
Oh, Crucified Jesus of Nazareth have mercy on me now and forever.
In hounor o fthe Precious Blood of Jesus, His death, resurrection and ascension which lead to everlasing life; true as Jesus was born on Christmas Day; true as Jesus was crucified on Good Friday; true as Joseph and Nicodemus took Jesus down from the cross and buried Him; trues as Jesus ascended into Heaven, may He preserve me from my enemies visible and invisible forever.
Oh, Lord Jesus Christ have mercy on me!
Mary and Joseph pray for me.
Lord Jesus Christ through Your suffering the Cross grant me strenght
to bear the Cross without fear or dread and give me the grace that I amy
follow You. Amen.
O Admirable Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, dying on the gallows tree
of the Cross for our sin altogether.
O Holy Cross of Christ stir me in all good truth.
O Holy Cross of Christ ward off from me all danger of Death.
O Holy Cross of Christ will that I may be in the right Way to happiness,
and always give me Life.
O Crucified Jesus of Nazareth have mercy upon me that the bad enemies
may keep off from me now and forever more in the Name of
Jesus Christ in honor of His sacred passion and unmerciful death, in honor of His Resurrection and God-like ascension to which he like to bring us in the right way to heaven.
True as Jesus was born on Christmas Day in a stable. True as Jesus was circumcised on New Years; True as three (3) Kings brought their offering to Jesus on the twelfth day; True as Jesus ascended into Heaven -- so the hands of Jesus will spare me from my enemies to be seen and not to be seen, now and forever into thy hands O Lord I offer my spirit.
O Jesus have mercy upon me. True as Joseph of Aramethea took him down
from the Cross and buried him. O Lord Jesus through the bitter agony thou
suffered on the Cross in particular, when your soul was partly from the
body. Have mercy on my poor soul when it parts from its mortal body, and
this sinful world. O Jesus save me that I may carry my Cross with Thee
and teach me that I may make my danger good.
Amen -- Amen -- Amen.
