I can tell the sun has come out of hiding from the sickly shade of purple the black velvet curtains have turned. Another night wasted as I sat and waited for the coming of the dawn. Another dawn I will not see. It is time for a change. It has been for such a long time. The grass has now grown over the spot my house sat on. Now it's just a passing memory for most and it won't be long before it fades entirely from the minds of all. I loved my house, I can still see the flames shooting up into the dark night sky as I stood in the shadows and watched what I had so lovingly built burn with the flame I had started. As hardened as I have become over the years, I stood as tears streamed down my face. It wasn't just the house, my last shred of humanity died that night. I wasn't even aware that it was still there after so long. However it must have been hiding somewhere inside because as I watched the flames rise higher I felt it slip away. |
