1973 360 Mopar small block. Lived inside the bay of a pickup most of it's life until now. Now it lives in my kitchen!
These cylinder heads were machined to work with T&D Rockers only! Custom made for this application, these rockers require hollow pushrods and lifters for valvetrain lubrication, unlike the stock setup which oiled the top end through the block and heads.
The Magnificent W2. "Pro Race" Cylinder Head P5007708AB. With mild porting can easily support 600 HP!
All W2 heads require offset rocker arms to clear the wide intake ports. These rocker arms have a custom offset of .700 inch. Even at that offset the intake port interferes with the pushrod geometry. These  heads are actually designed for 48 degree tappet bore (aftermarket race)blocks and not 59 degree tappet bore Factory blocks. Because of the availability of 59 degree W2 cylinder heads(o available new from suppliers) I decided to go with the 48 degree tappet head. So, How to make the pushrod clear the intake port?
Take a carbide and grind the side of the intake port. But not too much, you don't want to poke a hole in the port, Crikey!
If you look closely, you can see how I widened the hole on the side of the intake port. It's a pain but necessary to make the pushrods connect the tappets and rockers. However, there is a slight  advantage to using a 48 degree head on a 59 degree block and that is improved valve angle on 48 degree heads which means slightly more FLOW through the range of valve lift! The downside, I am limited on my actual range of valve lift. Not sure what total lift is going to be possible just yet. Stay tuned.........
