.......... NEWSFLASH ..........

My latest book " Paradise Lost " is now for sale at Lazy Days Book Shop,
opposite the Market Hall in Stalybridge at the cost of £10.

It's a history of Castle Hall from the 1820's to the 1970's and it covers all the
topics on the website but in more detail. There are also extras including claims
to fame, riot, tragedy and murder, the war years and I have also included
some poems which relate to Castle Hall.

Please spread the news.

If you have trouble getting hold of a copy, please contact me and I'll sort one
out for you.

Little land of hope and glory,
Proudly did you stand;
Loved and cherished, safely held
Within God's hand.

Gradely folk from humble dwellings,
Often full of cheer;
Looking out for friends and neighbours
They held dear.

Always time to stand and listen
To each others' woes;
Friendly faces, helping hands,
And open doors.

Children played on every corner,
Skipping, marbles jacks;
Rain or shine, you'd find them happy,
Sharing cracks.

Mums were busy making dinner,
Hotpot was the best;
Dad's at pub or reading t'paper
Well earned rest.

Times long past, but not forgotten
Halcyon days gone by;
That were filled with love and laughter,
Bright blue sky.

Now we're scattered over nations,
Many miles apart;
But our " Castle Hall " we cherish,
In each heart.
