An independent legal view of the criminal case against Anwar Ibrahim

Events prior to Anwar's arrest

Transfer of judge who granted injunction

In a defamation suit instituted by Anwar a few months ago against the writer and publisher of a book called, "50 Reasons Why Anwar Ibrahim Should Not Become the Prime Minister", Anwar obtained an Injunction preventing the sale of the book. Anwar had alleged that this book is part of a conspiracy at the highest levels of Government and party to get rid of him as Deputy Prime Minister. The senior High Court Judge who granted the Injunction described the book as "one long poison-pen letter". He was subsequently transferred from his position as head of the Civil Division of the High Court in Kuala Lumpur to the High Court in Shah Alam. Based on his seniority, this judge was actually overdue for elevation to the Court of Appeal.
