In the beginning
there was darkness. Out of that darkness arose a glimmer; a glimmer so bright
that one could almost make it out amongst all that darkness. Then, after all
world history up until this point happened; we said: "Let there be Cothú,"
and Cothú was born. |

OK, so it's not all that Biblical. We were bored, we got together to
make each other laugh, and now we're sucking the fun out of it, and putting it
up on the web. Face it, there's so much out there to mock, we should have
enough material for at least this issue. Read the entire issue, and judge for
yourself. If you're of our political leanings, you should like it, if you're
not, then go see what the Orange Standard has to say today
shoo
go on

Some (OK most) of the pieces
in Cothú will be offensive to someone out there. We'll try to keep them
civil, all we ask is that the RUC give us the same consideration. All right
then
That being settled, please allow us to introduce you to the little
voice that is making us do this
Séamus. From time to time, you will
see comments in red along side a sentence. (I
always wait until they finish a sentence.) That's Séamus. He's a
bit of a cagey ole' sot. (Speak for yerself)
But generally he's amiable. Séamus is not afraid to post his true
feelings, whereas some of our authors are. (Feckin'
Skirt-warers) |

That being said, a word or two about the content, it is, and will be
aimed at an Irish American/Irish Republican/Nationalist audience. That means,
your not likely to see an in-depth one-on-one interview with Jonas Taylor or
Peter Ervine in Cothú, you are likely to see an in-depth discussion on
the curious "Closeness" of Jonas Taylor and Peter Ervine though.
(Although, far be it from us to suggest a "closeness"
even exists.) You might find a joke or two to tell at the pub next week,
you might find biting satire. (Or at least
satire that is MEANT to be biting.) |

You'll notice throughout Cothú, that the Irish Language is
used, hell, the name is in Irish. Cothú - Nourishment, Sustenance,
Promotion, Maintenance. Cothú, for the community out there. We encourage
the learning and more importantly, we encourage the use of the Irish language as
a mark of respect for those who have gone before. If there are any Fluent Irish
speakers out there that would like to translate some of the articles in Cothú
for us, please let us know. Maybe someday, we'll all be fluent. |
Slán, Cothú |
