Joseph Allen MCCLUNG "Whistling Bob" The second child of J. Madison and Margaret L. Hannah McClung was b. 27 Dec 27, 1840 and married Caroline Louise Doyle in 1869  He went to Tipton to visit his cousins and uncles after he was discharged from service in the Civil War. They resided at Charleston, WV. They had five children. The 1880 census of Kanawha, East Louden Dist. shows this family with four of the children born by that time. He died 9 Feb 1909 and is buried at Springhill Cemetery at Charleston, WV.

McCLUNG, JOSEPH: Private Taylor's Co. Enlisted 6/19/61 at Frankfort, Greenbrier County, West Virginia. Age 24, Company transferred to Wise Brigade 7/10/61.

McCLUNG, JOSEPH A.: Captain, Co. C, Enlistment unknown. He was paroled on 5/11/65 at Charleston, West Virginia age 24, light complexion, dark hair, blue eyes, 5'10". May have been a resident of Nicholas or Pocahontas County during period of war. Age 40, farmer, Falling Springs District, 1880 Greenbrier County census
