Henry Amick: In September 1861, Yankee Major E.B Andrews finds a letter of undersigned rebel guerrillas, Capt. James E. Smith's Rangers, who are later associated with the Moccasin and Night Hawk Rangers, dated August 16th, 1861.  (Parsons, Sheppard, Ayers)  Henry Amick signed this early muster of "The Guerrillas."    On December 15th, yankee Captain Baggs conducted an expedition into Roane county and raided several homes for suspected guerrillas.  Henry Amick was captured.
Affair in Roane County,  On December 15th in 1861, the Yankee Captain John P. Baggs with his company of Homeguard Independent Scouts, the "Snake Hunters", pursued a band of rebels into Roane County on the Little Kanawha, killing 5, wounding several, and capturing 9 prisoners, and burned the homes quartering the rebel scouts. One of those killed was the noted guerilla Lowerburn. 

Henry, one of the rebel scouts, (or "spies", as he later yarned) was captured and sent to Camp Chase Prison.  He is later released with several other bushwhackers associated with Devil Bill,  Lowerburn, and Capt. Smith.  And joins the Night Hawk Rangers, along with several others from Capt Smith's "The Guerrillas".
In a report of prisoners released from Camp Chase dated March 15th 1862, Henry is released and listed as a person suspected of being disloyal.  Listed with him are eight other original Guerrillas, as shown on the August 16th letter.  The area was known for outlaws:  Booger Hole
