Plans are such changeable critters aren't they? I've changed mine more than a couple of times since I left home in June 2003.
The story in a nutshell is this: Two days after graduating from college I hopped on a plane to Edinburgh, Scotland with a maxed out credit card and only $1500 (Canadian dollars) to my name. The original plan was a permanent relocation to the UK, but once I was submersed in the backpacker culture again, the travel bug bit me hard. I had been toying with the idea of a round the world trip for quite a while, so I decided to move to London, England for a year to save some money then take off and see the world.
A pretty good plan I thought. But then I had to go and change things again. I went and met a great Aussie guy and we decided to get married. The plan changed again.
Before the engagement and wedding, I had already booked myself on a 4-month overland trip from Istanbul to Cape Town. We decided that I would still go on my trek, and my husband would meet up with me in South Africa. From there, we would head over to South East Asia and India for another 4 months or so before finishing off our travels in Australia.
As for this site. My journals and photos cover the period from 22 June 2003 - 21 December 2005, the time it took for me to circumnavigate the globe. |
