| Challenging Destiny is a Canadian science
fiction and fantasy short story magazine published in Waterloo, Ontario by Crystalline
Sphere Publishing. Challenging Destiny was created by Dave
Switzer and Graham Wall. The first issue was published in May 1997. In
1998 Graham left and was replaced by Bob Switzer. In the same year the
magazine also changed its format from biannual to
quarterly. Challenging Destiny has since grown to an international
publication with contributors and subscribers in Canada, the US, the UK,
Japan, and Russia. A typical issue features an editorial, six stories with illustrations,
a review by James Schellenberg, and an interview by James Schellenberg and
Dave Switzer.
Issue #9
is now available and features an interview with world renowned Canadian Fantasy author Charles de Lint.
