Our Illawarra branch was
founded in 1952 and we now have a membership of over 90.
Members come from Falls Creek and Pyree in the south,
through to Wollongong, north to Camden, Silverdale, and
South Sydney, extending to Bowral, Picton, Canberra and
adjacent areas. Anyone who has an interest in Camellias
can join the society; there is no restriction on membership.
The members meet generally at Legacy House, 96 Market
Street, Wollongong on the third Saturday in the months
of February to October at 2.00pm. A Christmas gathering
occurs on the same Saturday in November. Benching of
blooms commences prior to the monthly business meeting
at 1.30pm during the months March to September, or as
dictated by the availability of suitable blooms. Our
Annual Camellia Show is held on the third Saturday and
the following Sunday in July of each year. The venue
is the Function Centre, Wollongong TAFE, off Foleys
Road, Wollongong. The Reticulata Show is held at Legacy
House, 96 Market Street, Wollongong on the third Saturday
of August and the following Sunday.
