Spiders

This web site contains pictures and information about Spiders that we found in the Brisbane area, Queensland, Australia.

Spider is different from insect. Spider is order Araneida under class Arachnida, just like beetle is order Coleoptera under class Insecta (insects).

The scientific name of spiders is Araneide, which is an order under class Arachnida. All Arachnida members have four pairs of legs and one pair of chelicerae. Arachnids are invertebrate animals which belong to a large group known as arthropods. All arthropods have a exoskeleton and jointed limbs. Major arthropod groups include insects See more about this on Spider Scientific Facts.

For convenience, we divided the spiders that we found into two groups;
