B'Gon A human sorcerer with the ability to control dragons. A millennia ago, Gilgamesh defeated his dragons, and B'Gon spent centuries hoping for revenge. He sent an army of dragons after Gilgamesh in modern times, but was again defeated. -Avengers Spotlight#35

Babylon Ancient city of Mesopotamia. 2500 years ago, Ajak, Ikaris, Thena and Zuras fought deviants there, and Thena had her first encounter with Kro. Kro could have killed her, but chose to spare her life. -Eternals: The Herod Factor

Bal-Tok One of the Kree scientists who studied the corpse of the Eternal Arlok. From this study, the Kree realized humans had the potential for superhuman abilities, and this lead to the creation of the Inhumans. -What If (v.1)#28

Bandrhude A "Mind-Siren", a form of Deviant Mutate that until recently, had not been seen since the fall of Lemuria. Kro was given a Bandrhude on his mission to the Pyramid of the Winds, and another was part of Ghaur's "Fifth Host". They have the power to overcome foes with painful images of their past.-Eternals (v.2)#4, 11

Bands of Judgement Bracelets that render Eternals powerless. They are used when Eternals are placed on trial, as when Thena was accused of treachery by Ikaris. -Eternals (v.2)#5

Trigger Bates A member of Kro's "Murder Mob". Trigger Bates accompanied Kro to a costume party at the Vanderpont Estate to assassinate Tim O'Leary. He was killed by the energies released during the battle between Kro and Makkari. -Captain America Comics#1

Battleship Custom Battleship constructed by Ikaris for his war with Kro's fleet. Though only one vessel, it had the power to decimate Kro's fleet, thanks to its ability to receive and channel the energy beams of the Eternals. -Eternals (v.2)#2-6

Mr. Baxter Film-maker famous for the life-like monsters that appear in his pictures. When the Mutate Giagantus first attempted to conquer the surface world, Baxter built a massive monster named "Ulvar", and tricked Gigantus into believing that Ulvar was an invader from another planet. -Journey Into Mystery#63

Beginagains Collection of alien Rejects and Chosen who do not believe in the dogma of either cultures, but have been made aware of the Celestials thanks to their telepaths. The super-hero Cyclops was believed by their leader Ryest to be the one who would save both people, and he was proven right, when Cyclops led X-Factor in joining together with the Rejects and Chosen in driving the Celestials from their world. Other Beginagains include Dykon and Zalph. -X-Factor#44-46, 48-50

Belts of Bemusement Manacles used in New Lemuria to contain the Eternals. They were not immune to Sersi's powers, however. -Thor#286

"Big Guy" Alias of Kro as leader of the "Murder Mob". -Captain America Comics#1

Big Susie's Diner where Lucas Guthrie was to meet the Deviants Finn and Weller at. Unknown to him, the Damocles Founation was conducting genetic experiments upon children in the basement there. The building was destroyed by Sledge, when he fought the Gatherer there. -X-Force#96

Black Celestial See Dreaming Celestial.

The Black Galaxy Galaxy in which the creature known as Ego devoured all of the stars. Eventually, the Celestials came to the Black Galaxy, and transformed it into a new Celestial, using Hercules, and Thor's human companion Eric Masterson as a sort of template. -Thor#131-134, 406-407, 419-425

Black Knight There have been several Black Knights since the Middle Ages, the first of which was Sir Percy of Scandia, who served King Arthur in Camelot. The invincible Ebony Blade he bore was later held by Sir Raston of the Anachronauts, and Eobar Garrington in the Crusades. In modern times, the criminal descendent Nathan Garrett was unable to draw the sword, but his nephew Dane Whitman did. Dane Whitman is a member of the Avengers, and was the Gann Josin of Sersi, who hoped that by bonding with him she could prevent her supposed madness. He joined her in exile for a time, but they have grown apart since returning to earth. -Avengers#343-375, Black Knight/Exodus, Heroes For Hire#4-7

Black Legacy Energy wielded primarily by Lord Tantalus, which kills whatever life it comes in contact with. Only beings who are genetically pure have proven immune to its effects, although Dr. Caitlin Maddox avoided it thanks to an injection of Skrull adrenaline. Tantalus' son Lucian, the hero Blackwulf II, also possesses this power, but needs his Shadowlance to release it. Tantalus has allowed his Peacekeeper Lady Trident to forge her tridents from the Black Legacy energy. -Blackwulf#1-2, 7-10

"Blackened Wolf" Dish Tantalus served to the Peacekeepers. It was, in fact, the remains of his own son Pelops, although he denied this. -Blackwulf#1-2

Blackwulf Alias assumed by Lord Pelops, son of Lord Tantalus and Nirvana, and brother of Lord Lucian. While appearing to be the tactical leader of Tantalus' forces in the "Holy War" fought by their people, as Blackwulf, Pelops was a rebel leader, working in loose affiliation with the United States government. He formed a team of rebels, called "the Underground Legion" Their number included Sparrow, who was his lover. Knowing that he could not evade detection by his father's forces forever, Pelops planned to abandon their kingdom for good, after rescuing his brother. However, he was found and killed by Tantalus in the process. Tantalus subsequently had Blackwulf's corpse served for dinner, and sent his head back to Sparrow. The death of Pelops drove Lucian against Tantalus once and for all, and he took up the Blackwulf alias to oppose him, and joined the Underground Legion. -Thunderstrike#6, Blackwulf#1-2

Blackwulf II Lord Lucian, son of Lord Tantalus and Nirvana. Lucian was born with a black birthmark down the side of his face, which drove his mother to suicide. Although he always tried to win his father's approval in the Peacekeepers, Tantalus always held his birthmark against him. After learning that his brother Pelops was the rebel hero Blackwulf, and seeing his father kill him, Lucian donned the Blackwulf identity, and joined the Underground Legion. He was ulimately able to destroy his father using his own Black Legacy against him, though absorbing his life energy resulted in Lucian's skin becoming ebon-black. Lucian's chief weapon is his Shadowlance, which allows him to focus the Black Legacy energy in his birthmark using his rage as fuel. -Thunderstrike#6, Blackwulf#1-10, Daredevil#334, 336-337

Blackwulf III Deviant native to the planet Armechadon who was the leader of that planet's Underground Legion. He joined his Earthly counterparts in an assault on the forces of Lord Tantalus, but was slain by the Black Legacy surrounding Nirvana. -Blackwulf#8, 10

Blastaar Alien despot of the Negative Zone, native to Balurr. When Olympia was temporarily brought to the Negative Zone, Blastarr attempted to slay the Eternals, but while his energy blasts were capable of disintigrating them, they later re-built themselves. -Avengers#309-310

Blood Brothers Twin aliens used as agents by Thanos on Earth. The Blood Brothers possess superhuman strength which increases as they are closer in proximity to each other. - Iron Man#55, Marvel Feature#12, Avengers#252

Bloodhound Missile Weapons Kro supplied to the Lizard Men to defeat the Monster Hunters. The missiles open up to reveal a set of coils that ensnare their target. These coils are capable of ensnaring even an Eternal such as Makkari. -Marvel Universe#6

Ulysses Bloodstone Caveman born 10,000 years ago. A piece of the alien gem called the "Bloodstone" became lodged inside his chest, making him immortal. Over the centuries, Ulysses fought many monsters. In modern times, he joined Makkari's Monster Hunters, suspecting that the mastermind behind recent monster attacks might be his enemy Ulluxy'l Kwan Tae Syn. He was responsible for slaying the Deviant Mutate Grottu in Mombasa. Ulysses Bloodstone died several years ago when agents of The Conspiracy removed the gem from his chest. -Strange Tales#73, Marvel Universe#4-7, Marvel: The Lost Generation#2

Blue Blaze A 1940s super-hero, who was actually Spencer Keen, a college student seemingly killed in 1852 after exposure to a sample of the "Blue Flame". In 1940, he rose from his grave to battle crime, dressed in a blue costume, and possessing superhuman strength. -Mystic Comics#1-4. Comics historian Jess Nevins first proposed that the Blue Flame used in the Blue Blaze's origin could be connected to the Eternals. Since we saw in Eternals (v.1)#14 that the Uni-Mind's energies can play havoc when released, it isn't a far-fetched idea.

Blue Flame Energy force that is wielded by the Prime Eternal. By entering the Blue Flame, the Eternals are re-shaped into the Uni-Mind. The energies released by the Blue Flame have create a bright light, and cause machinery failure. Exposure to the Blue Flame also brought a robot of the Hulk to life. -Eternals (v.1)#12, 14, What If (v.1)#25, Eternals (v.2)#12, Spectacular Spider-Man Annual#8

Blue Jay Code-name of an American pilot who flew too close to Lemuria, and was shot down by their Disruptor. -Eternals#1

"Bluebird" Ajak's nickname for Margo Damian. -Eternals (v.1)#2

Boomer Member of the alien Reject clan the Djade, and father of Nikoh. Boomer possesses "Entro-Pist" powers, allowing him to make objects explode with his mind. Boomer aided the Beast in infiltrating the City of the Chosen and rescuing his friends from X-Factor. -X-Factor#45, 49-50

Borneo Island where the Deviants released Gorgilla, upon Midnight Mountain. -Tales to Astonish#12, Marvel Universe#6-7

Mr. Bradford Government agent who received the aid of Zuras and the Eternals in examining the Celestials. -Eternals (v.1)#18

Brain-Mines Deviant devices which render victims comatose. Later versions allowed the Deviants some mental control over their victims. The usual form is a small circuit-chip item that is fired from a gun or hidden in the palm of a hand. A larger version looks more like a lobster, and rests upon the top of the victim's head. Kro used a small Brain-Mine to subtly influence Thena into falling in love with him. Brain-Snatcher Nickname of Dromedan. -Eternals (v.1)#16

The Brethren A race of people created by the Celestials from bacteria to serve as defence against the Eternals and Deviants, should they ever turn against them. After Arishem exiled them from his service, they were acquired by the Collector, who placed them into his collection. In recent times, after being accidentally freed, they attempted to enslave earth, but the Collector transformed them into bacteria to ravage the world. However, Sersi was somehow able to form a Uni-Mind with their leader, Thane Ector, and transform the Brethren into a Uni-Mind to defeat the Collector. Thane Ector then passed away. -Avengers#334-339

Bridge of Terror Pass that protects the Pyramid of the Winds with its "Killer Winds" that destroy anyone who passes through.-Eternals (v.1)#19, Eternals: The Herod Factor, Fantastic Four Unlimited#10

Brightsword Carter Dyam, a former Israeli soldier contacted by Heimdall to join the Young Gods during the 4th Host. His powers were released by Ego-Prime, granting him superhuman strength and ability to create his own weaponry. After being given to the Celestials by Gaea, Brightsword came to live aboard the Celestial Mothership with the other Young Gods, and is a pupil of Juniper. Harvest has a crush on him. -Thor#203, 291, 300, Spectacular Spider-Man Annual#8, Marvel Comics Presents#101-102, 106-109

Bristle Deviant who serves in Lord Tantalus' Peacekeepers. Bristle has the power to fire quills from his wrists. -Thunderstrike#6, Blackwulf#1-2, 4, 6, 8, 10

Dr. Oliver Broadhurst Human scientist working for the Underground Legion. Dr. Broadhurst's right hand has been replaced with a cybernetic hand. Broadhurst's activities for the United States government have included the X-50 program, where he oversaw the production of 50 robotic life-forms, all of which were faulty, and went insane. One of his scientists, Dr. Able Stack, was successful in creating a stable robot, X-51, who later took the name Machine Man. Broadhurst personally created the android Wildwind to serve in the Underground Legion, but did not make her aware she was actually an artificial lifeform, possibly to prevent her from going insane. Dr. Broadhurst also re-programmed Sentry#459 to serve the Underground Legion. -2001: A Space Odyssey#8-9, Blackwulf#3, 6-7

Broop Brother Tode's court jester. Broop was among those Deviants who invaded Olympia during their brief take-over of the city. Following his people's defeat, Broop, along with all the other Deviants, was re-shaped into a large block of matter, and cast into space by the Uni-Mind. -Eternals (v.1)#3, Iron Man Annual#6

Brown Newspaper reporter who befriended Hurricane and was saved by him from his employer, John Smithers. -Captain America Comics#9

Brutus Leader of the Deviants following the death of Ghaur. Brutus led an army of Deviant Mutates into Subterranea, to drive out Grotesk, the Lava Men, the Mole Man and Tyrannus, and reclaim all their stolen Deviant technology. Although he had no true powers of his own, his armor contained a force-field. Brutus was slain by his own Mutates, angry at how he had mistreated them, after learning he was a Mutate as well. -Avengers Annual#20, Incredible Hulk Annual#17, Avengers West Coast Annual#6

Building of Knowledge Building on the planet Tebbel where Khult and Nirvana conducted astrological experiments. It was their last shelter against the onslaught of the invading Lord Tantalus. -Blackwulf#9

Bull of Heaven Bull favoured by the gods of ancient Babylon. The great hero Gilgamesh slew the Bull, but at the cost of his friend Enkidu's life. -Avengers#300
