Criteria of a Dramatic Poem: "Mirror" is a dramatic poem because it has one character speaker which is the lake. The words of the speaker are not always in quotes. Makes you feel like your witnessing an event. It creates the allusion of a dramatic situation.

1. "unmisted by love or dislike" is visual, auditory, and tactical. It enforces the fact that the speaker is not affected by the emotions of outside influences and doesn't feel their "mist."

2. "It is pink, with spectacles." is visual. The speaker focuses on the interesting rather than the ordinary.

3. "A woman bends over me, Searching my reaches for what she really is." is visual. The woman uses the lake to see what she really looks like; the lake is a mirror that reflects one's true self.

4. "She rewards me with tears and an agitation of hands." is both visual and tactical. When the woman sees who she really is, it causes her to cry and she disturbs her hands in sadness.

5. "Rises toward her day after day, like a terrible fish." is visual. The woman has grown old and wrinkled, so she now looks like a fish.

"Now I am a lake. A woman bends over me," - This is an allusion to the Greek legennd of Narcissus, who fell in love with the man he saw in the mirror which was him.
