Who is Tom Slick?

We are the original members of Tom Slick and the Converted Thunderbolt Greaseslappers. The band was created in 1972 based upon a King's College Glee Club skit. Members of the band came primarily from King's and Wilkes College. Tom Slick is a show band of the Sha Na Na genre. We began performing during the mid-seventies in and around eastern Pennsylvania. It had an impressive army of fans that followed the group throughout the region. Trying never to take themselves or the music too seriously, Slick had more fun than anyone with their clothes on has a right to. With several of the members pursuing nonmusical careers after college, the group went through various personnel changes. Finally, the front man, Lenny (Slick) Maday and Bonnie Magda took the act on the road, settling in Denver, Colorado, where Slick enjoyed a renewal and became a very successful oldies show band in the western US. Lenny and Bonnie returned to Wilkes Barre, throughout the 80's, to do reunion gigs with the original members. Beginning in 1990, the original members here in the east (Mike, Bob, Sheffe, Jack, Ed, Rick, and the two Dave's) began jamming at parties on Sylvan Lake. The party is usually on a Saturday in July. It has turned into a yearly event and Fred H and John Henry are back. Slick sounds better than ever. Private parties in the Poconos and eastern PA and an annual fund raiser in Dallas, PA has reintroduced Slick to thousands. Tom Slick maintains its original core of friends in the band and of the band. We continue to "add" new band members as the need arises and thank all of these new Slicksters, a list of which is compiled elsewhere on the site. Original members, Gerry Kuhar and Mike Moir are now goofin' on Elvis, as the song goes. Damn, we miss them! Come hear Tom Slick perform if you get the chance.
