"THE SO-CALLED JEHOVAH WITNESSES"

If one main charge could be leveled at the so-called Jehovah's Witnesses, it would concern their belief in the Non-Deity of Christ Jesus. This belief drives their extremely dedicated attempts to convince others of this damnable doctrine. It will therefore be the purpose of this study to examine the scriptural references used by the so-called Jehovah's Witnesses, and the true scriptural answers which obviously rebut them, as follows.

(1). The JW's charge that the following verses mean that God The Father "created" The Son, i.e., Christ Jesus. But if this was true (and it is not), this would make Christ Jesus to be "somewhat of a lesser being" than He who "sired" Him. Let us first consider the JW's New World Translation "version" of the scripture in question:

Prov 8:22-25 "JEHOVAH HIMSELF PRODUCED ME (i.e., CREATED ME), AS THE BEGINNING OF HIS WAY, THE EARLIEST OF HIS ACHIEVEMENTS OF LONG AGO. FROM TIME INDEFINITE I WAS INSTALLED, FROM THE START, FROM TIMES EARLIER THAN THE EARTH. WHEN THERE WERE NO WATERY DEEPS I WAS BROUGHT FORTH AS WITH LABOR PAINS, WHEN THERE WERE NO SPRINGS HEAVILY CHARGED WITH WATER. BEFORE THE MOUNTAINS THEMSELVES HAD BEEN SETTLED DOWN, AHEAD OF THE HILLS, I WAS BROUGHT FORTH, AS WITH LABOUR PAINS, WHEN AS YET HE HAD NOT MADE THE EARTH AND THE OPEN SPACES AND THE FIRST PART OF THE DUST MASSES OF THE PRODUCTIVE LAND."

There it is. They claim that God The Father "PRODUCED", "INSTALLED", and "BROUGHT FORTH" the Son, Who - in context - is referred to in the FEMININE gender. In fact, even their very own version calls wisdom a "sister" and a "Kinswoman" only one chapter earlier, in Proverbs 7:4 :

Say to wisdom: "You are my sister"; and may you call understanding itself "Kinswoman",

Therefore, even though Christ is also referred to as "the wisdom of God" in 1 Cor. 1:24, HE cannot be the "sister" or "Kinswoman" (the personification of wisdom) in the book of Proverbs, since He is not FEMININE. It would be a ridiculous doctrine indeed, if - as the JWs' foregoing (mis-translation) proclaims - God The Father had no "WISDOM" until He first PRODUCED, INSTALLED and "BROUGHT IT FORTH", in Him who He had "sired", as God, The Son! Ridiculous, to say the least.

Note: In the foregoing "New World Translation", the JW's, have adopted the ancient Septuagint, and Syriac "versions" of the original Hebrew Text, in which they improperly mis-translated the Hebrew word KANAH, meaning "POSSESSED", into the Hebrew word EKTISE, meaning "CREATED". The JW's merely used three different words, having the same root meaning; i.e., "PRODUCED", "INSTALLED", and "BROUGHT FORTH". And in point of doctrinal fact, it was God The Son (the 2nd Person of the Holy Trinity), the "I AM" of John 8:58; the JEHOVAH GOD "I AM" of Ex 3:14, Who "WAS BEFORE ALL THINGS"; "WHO CREATED ALL THINGS"; and is "THE ALPHA AND OMEGA", "THE BEGINNING AND THE END", of Rev 1:17, Rev 22:13, and Isa 48:12, with John 1:1-14.

The following are the same verses, as they (rightly so) appear, in The King James Version:

"THE LORD POSSESSED ME IN THE BEGINNING OF HIS WAY, BEFORE HIS WORKS OF OLD. I WAS SET UP FROM EVERLASTING, FROM THE BEGINNING, OR EVER THE EARTH WAS. WHEN THERE WERE NO DEPTHS, I WAS BROUGHT FORTH; WHEN THERE WERE NO FOUNTAINS ABOUNDING WITH WATER. BEFORE THE MOUNTAINS WERE SETTLED, BEFORE THE HILLS WAS I BROUGHT FORTH:"

In addition to the above, notice verses 25 through 27: BEFORE THE MOUNTAINS WERE SETTLED, BEFORE THE HILLS WAS I BROUGHT FORTH: WHILE AS YET HE (Christ, that is; John 1:3-10) HAD NOT MADE THE EARTH, NOR THE FIELDS, NOR THE HIGHEST PART OF THE DUST OF THE WORLD. WHEN HE PREPARED THE HEAVENS, I WAS THERE… (i.e. THE WISDOM OF GOD, John 1:3-10)

And verse 30: THEN I WAS BY HIM, AS ONE BROUGHT UP WITH HIM: AND I WAS DAILY HIS DELIGHT, REJOICING ALWAYS BEFORE HIM;

In the foregoing verses, The King James Version accurately translated the Hebrew word KANAH in verse 22, which means "POSSESSED".

If God The Father "POSSESSED" Christ "IN THE BEGINNING" (and He did), then God The Father, 1st Person of the Holy Trinity, did not (sometime later on) "PRODUCE HIM"; "INSTALL HIM'; or "BRING HIM FORTH", in the sense of "HAVING CREATED HIM".

The above is not the only time the JW's, have chosen to "alter", or "add to", The Written Word of God. One of the most blasphemous examples concerns that of John 1:1, where - by simply "adding" one vowel (the letter "a") - their "New World Translation" plainly contradicts that doctrine which is set forth throughout the entire Bible, as follows:

John 1:1 "IN (THE) BEGINNING THE WORD WAS, AND THE WORD WAS WITH GOD, AND THE WORD WAS A GOD." Therefore, in context, the JW's make Christ Jesus (Who is no less than God, The Son) to be but "a" God among (other) Gods. Even those with but a superficial knowledge of the contents of Holy Writ would readily recognize the utter blasphemy of the foregoing wrongful addition of the letter "a" to John 1:1. For example, also note the following:

Jer 10:10,12: BUT THE LORD IS THE TRUE GOD, HE IS THE LIVING GOD, AND AN EVERLASTING KING: ... HE HATH MADE THE EARTH BY HIS POWER, HE HATH ESTABLISHED THE WORLD BY HIS WISDOM, AND HATH STRETCHED OUT THE HEAVENS BY HIS DISCRETION."

Isa 44:8 "IS THERE A GOD BESIDE ME? YEA, THERE IS NO GOD; I KNOW NOT ANY."

Isa 45:18 "…I AM THE LORD; AND THERE IS NONE ELSE."

Isa 43:11 "I, EVEN I, AM THE LORD; AND BESIDE ME THERE IS NO SAVIOUR".

Scores of other collaborating verses could be readily added to the foregoing verses. But let it suffice for us to say that the JWs' adding of the (small) "a" to the above verse of John 1:1 did nothing to change the historic, doctrinal fact concerning The Eternal Deity of God The Son, Christ Jesus.

Now let us consider several other verses "used" by the JW's to supposedly support their contention that God The Father "begat" God The Son, in their New World Translation:

Col 1:15-17 "He is the image of the invisible God, the first-born of all creation; because by means of him all [other] things were created in the heavens and upon the earth… All [other] things have been created through him and for him. Also, he is before all [other] things and by means of him all [other] things were made to exist,"

In the above verse, the JW's are quick to point to the words that call Christ Jesus "THE FIRSTBORN OF ALL CREATION"; i.e., they interpret this to mean that Christ Jesus was nothing more (nor less) than THE FIRST-CREATED OF GOD, OF ALL OTHER SUBSEQUENT (CREATED) HUMAN BEINGS. This is a prime example of those who would not hesitate to take a portion of scripture "out of context", in order to ostensibly support their wrongful interpretation of an obvious, "in context" truth. How so? Examined "in context", verse 18 quickly establishes that which was declared in verse 15, with Christ Jesus being "THE FIRSTBORN OF ALL CREATION", as follows:

Vs. 18: "AND HE IS THE HEAD OF THE BODY, THE CHURCH: WHO IS THE BEGINNING, THE FIRSTBORN FROM THE DEAD…" Or, as the Greek word EK ("FROM" THE DEAD) simply meant--"THE FIRST ONE (OUT FROM AMONG) THE DEAD". Which refers only to Christ Jesus as being "THE FIRSTFRUIT OF THOSE RESURRECTED OUT FROM AMONG THE DEAD"; e.g., Lev 23:9-22, with Matt 27:51-53, and Rev 14:4. Thus, the foregoing verse in no way refers to Christ Jesus as having been THE FIRSTBORN "OFFSPRING OF GOD, THE FATHER". "Taken in context" it could only have been referring to "the resurrection from the dead" of Christ Jesus, as so prophesied in Lev 23:9-22, and the fulfillment of that "FIIRSTFRUITS" RESURRECTION PROPHECY ABOUT HIM, at Matt 27:51-53.

1 Cor 15:20,23: 20: "BUT NOW IS CHRIST RISEN FROM THE DEAD, AND BECOME THE FIRSTFRUITS OF THEM THAT SLEPT…BUT EVERY MAN IN HIS OWN ORDER: CHRIST THE FIRSTFRUITS; AFTERWARD THEY THAT ARE CHRIST'S AT HIS COMING."

In Acts 26:23, the Apostle Paul confirms the foregoing fact when he stated that "CHRIST SHOULD SUFFER, AND THAT HE SHOULD BE THE FIRST THAT SHOULD RISE FROM (Gr EK, which means "out from") THE DEAD…" So Christ, being "FIRSTBORN",was (symbolically speaking) "delivered out of" the saved compartment of Sheol (i.e., THE GRAVE); as He was also said to have been delivered "out from" Mary's then-virgin womb, Gal 4:4.

In the foregoing passage of Col. 1:115-18, the next "unscriptural addition" by the JW's is their wrongful insertion of the (bracketed word) "OTHER". This word appears nowhere in the original MSS. The J.W.'s knowingly and wrongfully inserted this word, to imply that Christ Jesus, after being "sired" by God The Father, was "used" by God The Father, TO CREATE ALL OTHER PERSONS AND THINGS---FOLLOWING HIS OWN CREATION BY GOD, THE FATHER. The JW's at least (bracketed) the word "OTHER" in the above verses, since it was added to the Written Word of God. And by the way, in violation of that, God forbade anyone to so do, in Rev 22:18,19.

This leads us to one of the "other similar attacks" set forth by the JW's, in their mis-use of the following verse:

Rev 3:14: …"THESE THINGS SAITH THE AMEN, THE FAITHFUL AND TRUE WITNESS, THE BEGINNING OF THE CREATION OF GOD:"

Again, the JW's pronounce the foregoing verse to mean THAT CHRIST JESUS WAS "BEGUN" BY AN ALREADY EXISTING GOD THE FATHER! However, any one with a commonly accepted GREEK-ENGLISH-LEXICON can quickly determine that the original Greek word for "BEGINNING" in the above verse is ARCHE, which means "THE RULING ARCHITECT OF THE CREATION OF GOD". Again, this would "be in perfect agreement" concerning Christ Jesus, in John 1:3-10, etc.

Simply stated, the foregoing verse may be correctly stated as:

"CHRIST JESUS, THE BEGINNER OF THE CREATION OF GOD", as plainly so stated elsewhere, throughout Holy Writ!

Whenever one passage in The Word of God perfectly agrees with another portion of The Word of God, you may take whatever is being considered as "acceptable doctrine". The Holy Spirit does not tell the saved one thing, and tell the JW's another.

But make no mistake. The JW's are extremely well trained in "WRONGLY DIVIDING THE WORD OF TRUTH". This is something they must do, if they are to "sell others" on The Non-Deity of Christ Jesus. Their "stock in trade" is to "hit and run". They come "two by two", and may even "leave the motor running". If you accept their "Watch Tower", they will more than likely be back. If you "catch them" on a doctrinal error, they will prepare to leave, and promise to "come back later, and discuss the matter". They rarely do, unless you make an appointment right then and there. In fact, you may never see the same two JW's the second time.

The foregoing scriptural references are but a few of the JW's "favorite verses" that most Christians are unprepared to defend doctrinally. The J.W.'s are not there to arrive at "the truth", but to promote their very well rehearsed "attack" on The Diety of Christ Jesus. NEVER MAKE THE MISTAKE that they are there to accept any "defense" one might offer, contrary to what they came to tell you. They have a totally closed mind on the matter.

So how may one "prove", beyond any cavil, that the JW's are indeed "false prophets"? The scriptures give an infallible way to do so, as follows:

Deut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

The JW's (as well as The 7th Day Adventists, and a host of other "false prophets") are on record as having repeatedly "set the precise date" of the end of the world, etc. Since ALL of the set dates have come and gone, the "prophesied" event FOLLOWED NOT, NOR CAME TO PASS". However, when their prophecies failed, they simply "set new dates", which (again) NEITHER FOLLOWED, NOR CAME TO PASS.

Lately, the foregoing "false prophets", have been less open, about "date setting", and with good reason. They are NOT "Jehovah's Witnesses".

The JW's, have prepared, devious answers to many of the obvious responses to those who would "defend" The Deity of Christ Jesus. There is one response, of course, that they cannot answer. And that is in Rev 22:13, where the angel proclaims the words of Christ Jesus Himself:

"I AM ALPHA AND OMEGA, THE BEGINNING AND THE END, THE FIRST AND THE LAST."

In this passage, the angel is speaking the words of JESUS, as stated in verse 16:

"I Jesus have sent mine angel to testify unto you these things in the churches..."

The angel, then, is not Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, or the first and the last. Rather, this applies to the Lord Jesus Himself (compare Isaiah 41:4; Isa 44:6; and Rev. 1:17).

So, if the occasion should arise, have the JW's (or any others who don't accept the Deity of Christ) read the above passage, out loud.

As for the JW's so-called "New World Translation"(???), it is called by many "The Green Phantom", inasmuch as those who "translated it" remain nameless, on it's opening inside page. Some say not to invite the JW's, Mormons, etc. into your home, and don't wish them God Speed (which simply means--not to fellowship, nor to buy their pernicious doctrines). But I say, "Take them on, if you wish, and thereby know the enemy". Get to know their "attacks", and sharpen your own defense. Become a better "swordsman", thereby.
