BOY BOY GEORGE IN WEST END DEBUT
Press information for immediate release 11 April 2002:

From 6TH MAY 2002, BOY GEORGE is to appear in the hit musical TABOO, taking over the role of LEIGH BOWERY, previously played by MATT LUCAS.
BOY GEORGE, who wrote the music and lyrics for TABOO, will star as outrageous costumier LEIGH ‘Art on Legs’ BOWERY alongside EUAN MORTON, who plays BOY GEORGE. “Stepping into MATT LUCAS’ shoes is a tall order  – he's been doing a spectacular job playing LEIGH BOWERY”, says BOY GEORGE.
From 17TH JUNE 2002, the part of LEIGH BOWERY will be handed over to MARK LITTLE, the ex-NEIGHBOURS star, BIG BREAKFAST host, stand-up comic, film and theatre actor, and most recently emerged from the longest-running one-man show in the West End for a decade (“Defending the Caveman”).  MARK is a man whose larger than life persona looks made for the part of the OTT walking performance artwork that was LEIGH BOWERY.
Other cast changes just announced include LYN PAUL who takes over from GEMMA CRAVEN as (JOSIE).  LYN famously taught the world to sing as one of the NEW SEEKERS, and most recently starred for three years in the West End production of BLOOD BROTHERS.
TABOO is directed by award-winning WEST END and BROADWAY director CHRISTOPHER RENSHAW, and the book has been created by THIS LIFE writer MARK DAVIES. The show is an ingeniously crafted musical picture of the life, times and styles of the innovators who shaped the fate and the face of pop in the 80s.  This was a gloriously self-indulgent era in which fashion, art, commercial forces and sexual politics clashed against a backdrop or riots, mass unemployment, social upheaval and insecurity.  And all that self-indulgence is on display in TABOO.
George adds more dates!
George has added more dates later in the summer when he will play Leigh Bowery!
He was originally to finish on 15th June, but obviously he has enjoyed the role so much that he wants more.
He will now come back to the cast of Taboo from 5th August to 7th Sept (in between Mark Little and Julian Clary).
However, he will not perform on all nights between these dates. 100% Boy will keep you informed of the dates that he will perform
