Behcet's Hope

Night after night I lay awake,
hoping for daylight to break.
As I lay there and I ponder,
my mind just seems to wonder.
About the days that use to be,
when I was happy and carefree.
Now my days are full of pain,
It's slowing driving me insane.
For I have a disease that has no cure,
no cause, no treatment that's for sure.
The disease is called Behcet's you see,
it's a lifelong illness affecting me.
But I can't give up, no how, no way,
because today just might be the day.
That a cure might come or a treatment at last,
and I can look upon these days as the past.
For this is the life laid out for me,
but I will not take it graciously.
I may have to use all my might,
but I will not give up this fight.
So I won't give up hope, I'll keep holding on,
For it's just a matter of time before I have one.
