I developed this page to reach out to parents, like me, who have a child that has been diagnosed with Juvenile Rheumatoid Arthritis (JRA) or any other disability. Consider this a "tension release" page. Here, we can share ideas, gather information and share support during difficult times. I wanted to share the personal side of having a child with JRA. I tried to be as honest as I could in expressing my emotions in the hopes of helping others in similar situations realize that they are not alone.
According to the book "Raising A Child With Arthritis, A Parent's Guide" published by the Arthritis Foundation, there are approximately 300,000 children in the United States with some form of rheumatic disease. Some of which include JRA, spondyloarthropathies, connective tissue diseases, lupus and juvenile dermatomyositis.
