A group of third grade students chose the topic 'Nutrition' to do some research about. They brainstormed questions about their topic and turned questions into areas of study. Each student used different types of resources to find answers to their questions. In conclusion they found two Metis recipes that are commonly used in the community and determined under which food group they would fall. They have included these recipes with the research they completed.
- Bannock
You Need:
4 Cups Flour
2 tablespoons of Baking Powder
1-2 Tablespoons of Sugar(optional)
1/4 cup of vegetable oil
1 cup of milk
1 egg
How to:
Mix dry(flour, baking powder) ingredients together, and mix wet(egg, milk, oil) ingredients together. Add wet ingredients to dry ingredients and mix all ingredients together and then kneed it until the dough feels elastic like. Roll it out on a cookie sheet using your knuckles. Use a fork to make numerous holes on the bannock. Bake it at 400-425 degrees for 20-25 minutes. Make sure you are happy when you cook bannock or it will flop!
