FYI:

• The first classes at Triway High School were held on February 11, 1963
• The GAA (Girls' Athletic Association) had its last year at Triway in 1984-85.  The next year, girls were allowed to join the Varsity T Club as it went co-ed for the first time ever.  (I don' t know which decision came first.)
• Mr. Robert Day became the THS choir director in the 1975-76 school year.  That year was the start of a mixed ensemble.  It was called the Senior Ensemble (not composed of just seniors, its members came from the Senior Choir which also was not only seniors).  This was the beginning of what would become the Triway show choir.  In the 1985-86 school year, Mr. Day gave the name "Downstage" to the show choir, replacing the former name "Ensemble".
• Basketball coach Randy Montgomery created the "Purple Pack", a boisterous support group for THS Boys Basketball games, for the 1983-84 basketball season.  It was only a few years later that the Pack was "disposed of" by the school.
• Since the dawn of the THS band, there have been four uniforms worn by its members.  The original uniforms were replaced with new ones designed by tuba player Cliff Odenkirk in time for the 1973 marching band season.  When the time came for retirement, these uniforms were made into rugs and were sold by the Music Boosters.  The next uniforms were inspired by those worn by the Blue Devils Drum & Bugle Corps.  They made their first appearance for the 1985 marching band season.  Purple berets for the sousaphone players were added in 1993.  They were changed to black berets the year after.  In 1997, the percussion section also started wearing black berets.  At the end of their long life, these uniforms were made into pillows and were sold by the Music Boosters.  The fourth and current uniforms were introduced for the 1998 marching band season.  The new style was chosen based on discussions between band members and director John Puster.  Percussionists and sousaphone players wear a loosely-fitting purple & white top for marching band which is then exchanged for the traditional jacket for concert band.
