	Lain Iwakura She is a 13-year old Japanese schoolgirl, and is considered rather unsocial by her classmates. When she receives an email from Chisa, a girl in her class that commited suicide, Lain starts to to show interest in computers and the wired.
	Alice A girl from Lain's class. Alice sorry for Lain, and tries to make her more sociable. Unlike her friends Reika and Julie, Alice really meanse well with Lain.
	Julie One of Alice's friends, despitethe fact that she sees Lain rather as a freak.
	Reika Another classmate and friend of Alice.
	Yasuo, lain's father Knows alot about Navi's, and encourages Lain to dive into the Wired too. Ordered Carl and friends to protect Lain. Admits after all that he loves Lain.
	Miho, lain's mother She is a pretty cold person, and doesn't seem to care very much for Lain or her sister. Sometimes she still shows some affection for her husband.
	Mika, lain's sister She is seems older than Lain. Later in the series, when she sees an image of her own, she starts to lose her sanity.
	Kamisama, in real life Hidetoshi Masami Claims to be the god of the Wired. In real life he designed Protocol 7, until he got fired. Then he committed suicide, and entered the Wired "full-time".
	JJ This DJ works at the Cyberia, and seems to know Lain pretty well.
	Chisa Yomoda A girl from Lain's grade, that commits suicide in the first episode by jumping of a rooftop. After her dead, she sends an email to some students, including lain.
	Taro, Myu Myu and Masayuki These 3 kids hang out at the Cyberia alot. Myu Myu is jealous of Taro, when he gets interested in girls (like Lain). Lain suspects Taro to be knight at a given time.
	Delivery boy The guy that delivers Lain's Navi to her house. He seems to know alot about computers, and has an eye for pretty ladies. He works for Nakayama Delivery Company.
