Helena Bertinelli is the daughter of Guido Bertinelli, head of the Bertinelli crime family, one of the largest Mafia families in America. She grew up in the East Town of Gotham City. One night, during a quiet dinner with her mother, father and brother were murdered before her eyes when an assasin broke in and shot them all with his gun, he poisnted the gun toward helena but didn't shoot and ran away. Helena was only eight years old. After the incident, Helena was sent to live in Venice, Italy with her Aunt,Uncle and her cousin. After having nightmares for many nights, and being very scared and alone, her cousin decided to make Helena strong again. he trained her in martial arts of offense and defense and in artillery, specifically in the cross-bow.

After going to college, Helena's Uncle and cousin was arrested to be put on trial for drugs, extortion, guns, ect. Clueless to why something like this would happen, she looked up her family name, and all of the names of her father's friends. they were all linked to the same thing. The Mafia. She wanted wanted to avenge her parents deaths, but mainly she wanted to end the Mafia empire. One night, while at a party where most of the Mafia attended as well, Batman broke in and wrecked the entire place. AFter watching the vigilante in action, Helena knew what to do. She adopted the guise of the Huntress and began seeking out her family's killers. Eventually she found out that Omerta was actually her family's consiglieri, a lawyer who had been emplyed both by Guido Bertinelli and a Mafioso known as Mandragora. Mandragora had wanted the Bertinelli fortune for himself and had ordered the hit on the family so that he could establish a major American empire himself. Having defeated Omerta and Mandragora, Helena decided to move to New York and keep on fighting crime as the Huntress. About two years ago she returned to Gotham City where she continued her crime-fighting career.

When the Gotham City was about to be declared a No Man's Land because of it's famous earthquake, Bruce Wayne AKA Batman went to Washington D.C. to try and stop it. meanwhile, in Gotham there were no other vigilantes left in town becasue they were all forced to leave by Batman who didn't want them there. All but the Huntress. Huntress and Batman never had a good relationship from the start and he never allowed her to join his Batquad because her methods were too violent. Another problem was, Huntress couldn't get the respect Batman did against the slum of Gotham. Donning a Batman suit, Huntress became the new Batgirl. When batman returned he decided to allow her to keep it if she did the job well. Huntress helped as Batman against several cases including Ferak, Black Mask, what was left of the Black Mask gang, Penguin, and Two-Face. Her last battle was against Two-Face, but she failed miserably, losing territory of the Batman and failing to save the lives of several innocent bystanders. Batman took the mantle away from her, because she was not worthy of it anymore, and she did not cooperate as well as the other partners. Afterwards, Helena donned her huntress suit again joining forces with the insane ex-cop Billy Petit and his strongmen.

After Gotham was restored to it's natural self and the No Man's Land was ended by Lex Luthor, Huntress decided to still fight the good fight, despite that she was shot with bullets three times by Joker and Harley Quinn near the end.

She recently decided to retire as a vigilante but not before one final case. She discovered case tof her family's death was not solved. After being framed for murder, Huntress eventually tracked the source to a friend of her father's. It turned out her wife-beating mobster uncle is truely her father, and ordered the hit on her parents, but the assasin got confused and instead of killing Helena, he killed her mother instead. After being disgusted by the tale she hears from her father, she orders a rival crime boss to off dear ol' Dad.
