Tuneal: Part 3

"Uh, excuse me, Christina?" Tuneal asked the blonde-headed Headmistress unsurely as she spoke with Amaykala.  "I was going to ask you about standing for Wiayth's clutch, and the possibilitiy of staying even if I don't Impress."

The whiterider turned to face Tuneal.  "Hold on a sec, Amaykala," She said, then turned her attention to Tuneal.  "Serlienth says that Amisserath says you want to stay, and I believe that it has something to do with a certain
purple rider.  Would I be correct in saying so?"  She smiled mischeviously at the healer.

Tuneal felt a blush spreading over his face.  "Well, Headmistress, I suppose that you could put it that way," He stuttered, and Christina smiled understandingly.  "But I want to stand for Wiayth's.  Amaykala, is it possible that Mayeth finds me acceptable?"

The Searchrider's eyes went unfocused for a split-second, and Tuneal knew that she was asking Mayeth.  "Mayeth says that you may stay and stand, and she thinks that you might do rather well,"  Amaykala says.  "And remember, we've never had a purple before, but from Amisserath's size, I'd say that she could be caught by any color."

Tuneal smiled even more broadly.  "Thank you, Headmistress and Searchrider," He said, his normally calm, level-headed temper now changed by his excitement.

Walking back to Lecirnor and Amisserath, Tuneal stroked Klah's head.  "Klah, did you hear that?" He asked the brown, who cheeped excitedly.  "I'm going to stand, and maybe, with a bit of luck, Impress.  A blue is what I'm expecting, if anything at all...  But blues can still chase purples."

Lecirnor smiled as Tuneal approached, obviously already knowing the answer as to whether he could stand or not.  "Well, Tuneal, I know that whenever Wiayth clutches, you'll be one of the first in line to be signing up for it, eh?  Most people think that there's going to be five eggs, and that's really not a bad number...  There'll probably be a terra, or, with a bit of luck, an alibi.  There hasn't been a shadow yet at Ocean Side..."

Tuneal chuckled as he scratched Amisserath's eyeridge, the purple obviously enjoying the attention.  "Lecirnor, I think that I'll be lucky if I manage to get a blue," He said, smiling sadly.  "I mean, I'm not exactly what you'd consider prime Candidate material.  You, well, you were Searched twice, and once is amazing.  Not to mention that you ended up with the rarest dragon on all of Ocean Side Island.  I just don't think that anything above a sapphire, if even a sapphire, would like me."

Lecirnor smiled softly.  "Tuneal, Amisserath likes you, so does Serlienth, as well as Mayeth.  What more proof do you need?"

Tuneal thought for a moment, then said, "The proof will come whenever I stand for Wiayth's clutch.  If a dragon chooses me, then I'll admit that you're right."  He smiled.  "And not until then."
