Tarilan's Journal, Cont 2856.02.24 Dear Diary, Today I got a runner stallion!  He is so beautiful that you wouldn't believe it, and runs like the wind.  He'll only let young people near him, and I think that it was because he was abused by an older person, for he has scars along his neck, hidden under his mane.  I rode him a few candlemarks ago, and he has a lovely, gentle pace and would probably make a wonderful racer, although my opinion is probably biased.  Life as a Candidate is harder than I expected, for you wake up with the dawn and go to sleep long after it's dark, with lots of work in between.  However, I am assigned to the weyrweaver with Baernil, and all of those that have been apprenticed are put under the direction of the weyrcrafter.  After looking at all of the crafts, I think that if there was one thing that I could of been, it would of been a DragonHealer.  They are so wonderful.  Well, I must go!  Duty (actually, the weyrweaver) calls! 2856.03.01 I've been so busy lately that I haven't written at all.  You see, it was strange...  The female slots were already full, so Anya wasn't supposed to bring me in, actually, nor Baernil.  So we were both lower caverns workers for a while, which was pretty strange.  The clutch is supposed to hatch sometime soon, and I hope it does! 2856.03.14 The eggs still haven't hatched yet; I wish that they would!  My blue flit, Caaylin, is remarkably sweet now, and she follows me around wherever I go.  Many people's firelizards come and go as they please, but Caaylin does neither of those.  I'm glad that she's here. 2856.03.20 The eggs hatched!  All nine of them, all healthy.  There were two browns, three blues, and two greens.  They are all doing well, and I'm happy for the new riders.  One of the blues is gorgeous, a deep rich blue on his body with a sharply contrasting almost icy-blue on his belly, muzzle, and wingsails.  I was so happy that you wouldn't believe it, and the Senior Queen Yukith is supposed to fly soon.  I hope that a good dragon catches her, and there is a queen egg! 2845.03.28 Yukith rose today!  After a long chase, E'lan's bronze caught her.  It was very exciting, and eggs have been laid. Seventeen of them!  There is definately a queen egg in this clutch, and I can only hope that I'll be found good enough for it! Return to Tarilan's Weyr
