Welcome to the Barbary Coast Theater, the funniest show in Monterey! We feature a melodramatic show and vaudeville skits every Friday and Saturday night at 8pm.      Legend has it that local Quicksilver mines played a role in the Civil War by supplying ore to Union munitions manufacturers despite the miners’ last minute threat to support the Confederacy. The Shooting of General Anesthesia is the story of a local mercury mine, a sinister confederate spy, a plot twisting telegram, and of course, the murder of none other than Union Colonel Olly Northgate on a secret mission for President Lincoln. The Barbary Coast Players make history with a villain and villainess, a hero and heroine, a mine foreman, a town drunk, and the head housekeeper of the Casa Grande Mansion, last but not least the young, sweet, telegram girl who delivers all over town.
     Audiences will have to dig for the truth to such a mine boggling questions as, Will the Confederate Colonel, posing as a Yankee to secure the mines for his beloved South, do the dandy with the Alabama babe in the Monterey woods? Ore...Will the Confederate Colonel put General Anesthesia out of his pain? Will our hero, Arnold Pushrod, pull the plot off or just push through the laughs? In the vein of happily ever after, will the rebel without a clause get the shaft?
     Don’t wait another minute to escape from reality. The trip to the South (Monterey) fits any budget. The Shooting of General Anesthesia plays, along with vaudeville skits, and audience interaction.
