The pearl of the Caspian sea, this green town is stand on the Caspian sea with magneficent views over sea in the north and Alborz (Elbruz) mountains  in the south. Bandare Gaz is one of the oldest towns in the region. The  fomer name of Bandare Gaz was Ken âre  .
Bandare Gaz is located on the edge of  Gorgân Bay which has given this town the advantage of fishing and marine transportation.        Bandare Gaz has been an important trade harbour in Gorgân region.  It attracted  merchants from Caucasus,  Russia and Central  Asia.  The Russians, Armenian and Caucasians  trade missions came down to this town  during its flourished days. Bandare Gaz is still one important   town in the  region.

There are some historical and holy places in and around this beautiful and old town.  The remains of  Mâr Castle, Qadim/Bâstâni

Mâr Castle (Mâ r Dež/- Qa'le ) is located some km SW town and south eastern village Liv âne š arqi, Qadim/Bâstâni Castle (Deže Bâ stâni or Qadim Qa'le) some  km SE  town and northern  village Sar mahale and Arus Castle (Arus Dež /- Qa'le ) some km SE town and southern  village Gol afrâ .

The remains  of
  Jâre Kolbâd defensing wall:
Keeping out the barbarous Turkmans, Mohamad Xân let build up this  emayzing several kilometers wall with nine  towers, between   the  great Alborz mountains in the south  and the Caspian Sea in the  north. J âre kolbâd wall is  situated some kilometers  SW Bandare Gaz, between villages Hašt Tike and Kohne Kolbâ .   See  map.

The shrinse of  Emâ mzade Habibolâ in Nowkande (8 km SW the town), Emâmzâde Alirez â, Emâmzâde Sartâq (8 km SE Bandare Gaz) and  Emâmzâde   sepidcâl (c.20 km southern Bandare Gaz ) are worth seeing. See map .

The quite and beautiful forest of Totest ân is situated  only   a few km SW Bandare Gaz.

This emayzing well is located on the south of town, about 20 km away from Gaz village to Râdkân village.

The Beach

Quiet, secluded, beautiful, this enchanting sandy beach 5 km western town  is one of the most beautiful beaches in this region. This beautiful stretch of sand is the best locale for a relaxed evening. The Bandar Gaz beach is a popular picnic spot of the local people.                        

Getting there:  The easiest way  reaching these attractions is to charter a  car from Bandar Gaz. You can even get arranged trips to these attractions, by contacting some travel agency in Bandare Gaz or Gorgân.
