Battery White

(1899 - 1921)
Named (5/25/1903) after Maj. William J.H. White, killed 1862 at Antietam, MD.
Located here were two 4-inch pedestal mount guns.

Looking down on Battery White and the lighthouse.
You can also see the remains of the Ravelin and one of its magazines.
There is another gun emplacement and another magazine on the opposite side of Battery White.
Fort Hunt is located across the river, but it is not visible through the trees.

Battery Decatur

(1899 - 1918)
Named (4/4/1900) after Com. Stephen Decatur of the War with Tripoli and the War of 1812.
Located here were two 10-inch disappearing guns. This battery was originally called Battery B.
