In the 25th Silver Anniversary of the series, Texas notched their first championship by beating Georgia 2-1. In a tightly packed final day in the standings, it was Texas beating Oklahoma 4-3 in the bottom of the 7th to slide into the championship game knocking Oklahoma out of it. It took Maryland losing the last game of round robin play to Arizona to knock them out of the championship game allowing Georgia, one of 5 teams with a 4-3 record to get into the finals by way of tournament tie-breaker rules.

Great players, great games, great weather, and a raft of of great host families for the players made this one of the most successful series in its history. Shawnee, Tecumseh, Dale and Seminole as game sites can be proud of themselves.

2000 SUNBELT CLASSIC SCHEDULES

4th Annual "Junior" Sunbelt Classic

Junior Sunbelt Classic Baseball Series 2000 - June 10th thru 14th
Rain played havoc with the Jr. Sunbelt Classic this year. Saturday and Sunday were rained out and the teams had to double up the next two days to make up the schedule. Several teams played 3 and 4 games in one day. On Wednesday the Championship games were to be played and the rains came again. If not for McAlester High School Baseball Coach (Randy Hughes) and his wonderful crew games would not have been made up. Pictures of each team participating in Classic are displayed along with how they finished in tournament.

The Senior Sunbelt proved to be another rousing success despite one day being wiped out by rain. Sunshine prevailed the rest ot the days and culminated with a near perfect evening before a packed stadium in Shawnee. California hung on for a close 3-2 win over Oklahoma in the finals. Thus making it the second straight tournament championship in a row for Team California. Thanks go to all that make this tournament such a success from the coaches, host families, ground crews and the Cities of Shawnee, Tecumseh and Seminole.

Just got back from Jr. Sunbelt. Championships will be played off today [Wed.16th] 7th-8th place between Calif. and Texas, 6th-5th place between Canada and Mississippi, 3rd-4th place between Okla. Blue and Okla. Gold and championship game between Arizona and Georgia. Senior Sunbelt classic starts June 21st. RESULTS

The Sunbelt Classic will be held in Shawnee, Oklahoma June 21st through June 26th. Games will be played at Shawnee's Ed Skelton Field, OBU's baseball diamond, Tecumseh's high school diamond and Seminole Jr. College's diamond.1999 SCHEDULE
