Chapter 9
"Time to Endor Mr. Data?" Picard asked.
"Ten minutes, five seconds sir." Data answered.
     "Anything on Sensors Mister Worf?"
     "Negative Captain."
"Looks like we beat them here Sir."
"So it would seem Number One. Which gives me that much more
time to decide how to explain how we lost our ambassador."
"Oh I don't think you have to worry too much about that Jean
Luc." said a familiar voice.
"Q!" Picard practically snarled. "What are you doing here?"
"Merely giving you something to do while you wait."
Q said. Without another word, he vanished.
"Captain!" Worf said. "Sensors show intruders on deck
twelve!"
     "What?" Picard asked.
"This has to be Q's doing Sir." Riker said. "I think we have
to assume that they're dangerous."
"I'm forced to agree Will. Mr. Worf, have security escort our
visitors to the brig, phasers on stun."
     "Aye sir."
"What could Q be doing here?" Picard wondered. Every time Q
had shown up, there had been trouble. He could only assume that Q
had come because of the conference. Somehow, Q thought this
occasion worthy of his attention.

The X-Men suddenly found themselves in a strange corridor,
with what looked like some kind of computer terminal running down
the wall. The entire corridor was white, and there were lights on
the ceiling. Cyclops realized that Q must be responsible for them
being here.
"What did he say?" he thought. "You must meet Riker? Who is
Riker?" Someone here, obviously. But how to find him?
	"I don't think I like this Q." Wolverine growled.
"He does seem to like screwing with everybody doesn't he." Iceman
agreed.
"Well it ain't the first time we've met bein's like that."
Rogue reminded them.
"We've got company Cyke." Wolverine warned.
	"Where?"
	"There." Wolverine turned.
"Freeze!" a voice shouted behind them.
Cyclops and the others whirled to find several men in yellow
uniforms pointing strange objects that could only be weapons at
them. Cyclops raised his hands in the air. He didn't want any
trouble.
	"We're surrendering?" Iceman asked incredulously.
"We don't want to start anything." Cyclops told him. "For all
we know they're on our side and just don't know it."
Unseen to all, Q appeared amongst the security guards. "They're
dangerous." Q whispered in the lead guard's ear. "You'd better shoot
them now while you have the chance."
Cyclops barely dodged the phaser blast in time. "I see they're
not going to listen to reason." he thought. "All right, defend
yourselves but don't hurt anybody unless you have to." the Mutant
ordered. "We still don't know what's going on!"
He opened his visor and let loose an optic blast. The blast
knocked the lead guard off his feet and into the guards behind him.
Iceman froze the floor beneath them.
The guards that managed to keep their feet returned
fire. Rogue dodged easily while Iceman erected a quick ice
shield to protect himself and Cyclops.
Wolverine grunted as he took two shots to the chest. He stood
his ground however and extended his claws. Bishop merely absorbed the
blasts and sent the energy right back at their attackers, knocking them
all out.

Monitoring the battle from the bridge, Worf saw that it was not
going well. Then he got an idea. "Captain," he said. "I believe it
would be prudent to beam the intruders directly to the brig."
"Captain," Data said. "I believe it is possible to modify the
transporter so that the intruders will arrive in the brig sedated."
"Make it so." Picard ordered. He did not know what was going
on, first Counselor and Ambassador Trois were abducted, now this.
"Bridge to Transporter room three," Data called. "Lock onto
the intruders on deck twelve and beam them directly to the Brig with
the following modifications made on the transporter..."
Worf checked the internal sensors and saw that all the security
guards were unconscious. "Worf to sickbay, security guards on deck
twelve require medical assistance. Doctor Crusher please meet me in
the brig."

Crusher ran the tricorder down the intruder's body. The man
was wearing a strange blue uniform, and a red visor. The scan
results fascinated her.
"Captain according to the tricorder he's human."
"Human?" Picard asked. "Then what is he and the others doing on
my ship with that strange uniform and some sort of phaser over his
eyes?"
"That's not a phaser Captain, the energy blast came from his eyes
themselves."
     "Is that possible?"
"It would seem so, the visor he's wearing is the only thing
holding the energy back. It's made from a strange mixture of ruby and
quartz. There is an anomalous mutation in his DNA that could account
for his ability, but other than that, I'm at a loss to explain it."
	"And the others?"
"They all have similar mutations, but each one has a unique
signature. And they're all human. One has the
fastest metabolism I've ever seen and he seems to have retractable
claws in his forearms.
"I'll need to run further tests before I can tell you anymore."
"Could Q have caused this mutation?"
The room was suddenly full of the sound of a cheering crowd. Q
appeared in a strange uniform, with vertical black and white stripes,
holding a microphone.
"And at the end of the fight ladies and gentlemen, the score is
Federation 1, X-Men 0. Stay tuned for round 2."
"What the hell are you babbling about Q?" Riker demanded.
"Why the skirmish between your guests and Bonehead's forces here."
Q said. "Oh it took some persuasion to start the whole thing, but you
won. This round. I'd like to see how you stand up to a full assault
when these wake up, and the others find out you've attacked their
leader."
"What?!" Picard was furious. "You've manipulated the minds of
my crew, ruined a first contact situation, and for what? Your damned
entertainment?"
"Don't act so shocked Jean Luc. Just because I never used mind
control before doesn't mean you shouldn't have expected it."
"Q, this situation was bad enough without your interference."
Picard snapped.
"Relax Picard, I was just curious as to who would win. I won't
make the others mad at you. Mind you, I only promise not to use mind
control again. They may come after you anyway."
     "What others?"
"The other X-Men. But I'll let your guest explain it when he
wakes up. Don't worry, he's nearly as stuffy as you Picard. Actually,
he's more like Riker. Anyway, I'm off to `harass' some of the other
players. Bye."
"Q!" But he was gone. "What the hell is going on?"
At that moment, Data walked into the room. "Captain, I have some
information regarding the intruder."
     "You do?"
"Yes Captain. On stardate 45976.8, Captain Kirk and the crew of
the original Enterprise encountered a group of mutated humans who
called themselves the X-Men. This man matches the description of their
leader, who calls himself Cyclops. He has a mutant power to fire blasts of
energy from his eyes." Data tilted his head to one side and looked at
Cyclops. "Fascinating Captain. This event occurred nearly
100 years ago, yet this man has not aged a day. In fact, he appears
younger than he did on the Enterprise logs."
"Must have been a temporal anomaly that caused the encounter."
Riker said.
"Yes Commander." Data said. "If that is the case, than he knows
nothing of the future encounter. We must be careful to not disclose
any information that may disrupt the time-line."
"What about the others?" Picard asked Data tensely.
"Respectively they are: Wolverine; who indeed, does have
retractable claws, as well as enhanced
senses and accelerated healing-"
Data broke off and jerked his head towards the cell in which
the man in question was being held.
Wolverine was awake. And he wasn't happy.

"What happened?" Jean asked. "Who was that entity professor?"
"A powerful entity named Q." Xavier answered. "I can only
assume that he had his own reasons for transporting Scott and the
others away."
"Where are we going Corsair?" Storm asked.
"To the planet where the Empress was heading when she was
abducted. The Forest Moon of Endor."
"Endor?" Beast asked. "I'm afraid I've never heard of that
planet."
"Here." Cho'od handed him an electronic book with the words
"Don't Panic" on the face.
"Hmmm," Beast said. "`THE HITCHHIKER'S GUIDE TO THE
GALAXY' fascinating." Beast hit the search key, and typed ENDOR.
An english accented voice emanated from the guide; "Almost, but
not quite, sort of, pretty much, kind of, maybe harmless. A wonderful
vacation spot if you like teddy bears that babble on all day about
great wizards from the sky and exploding moons and such nonsense."
Beast looked at the guide for a moment. "Most illuminating." he
said sarcastically.

"Luke." a voice summoned from the middle of the room. Luke
slowly brought himself out of his meditation. He looked up expecting
to see Han, but instead there stood a strange man in a brown Jedi robe.
"Who are you?" Luke asked. "How'd you get in here?"
     "I'm Q, and I'm omnipotent."
Threepio and Han chose that moment to enter the room.
"Oh! Good heavens! Who are you?" Threepio began. "What do-"
"Oh do be silent." Q said irritably. Threepio immediately fell
silent, but he continued to gesture.
"Hey how'd you do that? I've been trying to get Golden Rod to
shut up for years." Threepio began to look panicked as his voice
failed to return.
"Oh calm down Goldy, it's not permanent."
"Did you have something you wanted to tell me?" Luke asked Q
calmly.
"Most certainly." Q said. "Your prize pupils have been
kidnapped."
"What?!" Han broke in. "Who's got my kids?!" Chewie bellowed
his concern for Lowie from the doorway.
"Oh look, another Worf!" A fiendish expression crossed Q's face.
"Well," he said. "I just thought you should know." With that, he
vanished. Along with Chewie.

On the bridge of the Enterprise, Worf disappeared from the
security console.

On the brig, Wolverine attempted to cut through the wall with his
claws. When they were still fused with Adamantium it might have worked,
but the bones merely scratched the wall. Failing that, he hurled himself
at the force field.
"Please calm down," Picard tried in vain to reach the enraged
mutant. "We mean you no harm-"
The berserk mutant suddenly vanished in a flash of light.

To be continued...
