IN THE SHADOW OF THE SEVEN SAMURAI
The
legend, Kurosawa Akira
The earliest box-office movie based on Kurosawa Akira's Seven Samurai was The Magnificent Seven (1960), starring Yul Brynner, Eli Wallach, Steve McQueen, Charles Bronson, Robert Vaughn, Brad Dexter, James Coburn, and Horst Buchholz. It belongs to the classic stuff of the genre.
The years 2003-2004 saw the launching of Sony Playstation game based on the same Kurosawa movie, titled Seven Samurai 20XX.
And in 2005, an animation TV series and movie took on the same subject. Directed by Takizawa Toshifumi, art directing by Ogura Hiromasa, character design by Hashimoto Hideki & Kusanagi Takuhito, mecha design by Kobayashi Makoto, photography by Yoshioka Hiro, produced by AnimaX and broadcast by SkyPerfecTV, this visually blasting anime is called Samurai 7.
