Libertarianism asserts that all economic trade is based upon "voluntary transactions". And since no capitalist ever employs the use of physical force in order to make these transactions, this assertion is, when taken at face- value, quite true. But to dig a bit deeper is to discover that this assertion is really quite baseless. Consider the fact that there are large areas of many, if not all inner cities that are devoid of large grocery-chain outlets. What this means, of course, is that the residents of these communities, many of whom lack access to adequate modes of transportation, have no other choice than to subject themselves to neighborhood liquor stores, and to the extremely high prices charged by the owners of these stores. So although one would be hard pressed to document a single instance in which one of these store owners forced someone to do business with them, it must be asked: Why would they have to ? Thank you.
