Dear Letters Editor: Punishment should be compensation to victims to teach responsibility for actions rather than punishment by a third party: the state. If compensation is not forthcoming, then some form of incarceration may be required where criminals work to support themselves as well as pay their debts by producing products for sale. Produce viable products - release comes sooner. Don't produce - starve. Want weights, TVs, materials, tools or training? You decide. They all come out of your paycheck. Engage in force (theft, extortion, physical violence) or faud and your fellow inmates may vote to promote you to a higher security facility. Keep getting promoted and you may find yourself at the top of the incarceration hierarchy where you earn a lethal injection. Sincerely, Bill Holmes, Vice Chair Antelope Valley Libertarian Party P.O.
